After careful review of all the above data, I declare the old Ford with the 351 Cleveland will beat the Dakota in what would be a very close race! I am so sure I'll bet my x-wife the Torino would win.

Windsor vs Clevo:

In general terms, heads on a clevo are better (closed chamber that is, and once u've highported the exhaust), block is better on the windsor.. hence the "clevor" - a windsor using clevo heads..pretty popular.

as i sed, i've got a 4v clevo, but i'm thinking of swapping to a windsor. The windsor is a tall block...meaning u can increase stroke to as much as 4.25" - i've seen claims of 454 ci stroking kits for these things...insane cubes for a small block (or go nuts with an SVO alloy block which they say will go out to 434...and it only weighs 190lbs!!!)

as for fred..the guy on that site sed "This thin-wall cast BIG SMALL BLOCK"...meaning its a pretty chunky..but still a small block.

I have a 1974 gran torino sport 2dr hard top and last time i checked i have a SMALL BLOCK 351 clevland "Q" code engine (4v heads). I make 300hp and 295 torque and is formitable competition for most car and trucks on the road this including my 210 hp mazda rx-7 which weights considerably less than the torino (bout a 1500 lbs) and my 1999 cadillac sts which is no push over. I will accept any challange coming.

p.s. I will soon be putting about $1200 into the engine and ill be topin about 450hp

I can't count all the times when I was a teen ager (in the '80's) and someone would come up to me saying how they got a new (used) car/truck and how it had the allmighty 351C in it. 99.99% of the time when they opened the hood all it was was a 351/400M and you would argue these idiots for hours that they didn't really have a Cleveland but that didn't matter. I don't know about lately, but those engines used to be worth $$$$ just for the parts!

Unless your a collector it's way easier and cheaper to build up a Windsor and get lots and lots of horsepower. Hell, I've owned probably 5 or more 302 Fords. One time I took one and built it up on the stock bottom end, stock pistons, crank, etc and had a really big cam, single plane intake, holley double pump, etc etc etc and turned 7K RPM's all the time and that sucker never came apart! I actually wish I still had one. It would be great to have a 30 year old designed 302 (carberated) at the light next to a V-Tec and match his RPM's off the light. And of course kick his ass so damn bad you thought he stalled or something!!!

Sigh.... The funny thing these days is everyone bases their own rod on weather it can beat 5.0 Mustangs or not.
What's so stupid about that is that you never know what a lil ol' 5.0 can be running. It could be an old stock 240 HP nothing special or on the other hand have 400+ HP on stock trim. There is a lot of variables. Not to mention as stated before, people putting fake badges like Cobra emblem (almost 400 HP) on a stock GT (LIKE 265 hp) Mustangs.

I have a 351C 4v from a 70 Torino GT. It was said that it is rated at 300HP. Some where I read it was more like 335HP but because of insurance reasons, the auto makers were down playing the HP ratings. I have this 351C in my 71 Torino and with a few mods it is generating 385HP at the rear wheels. When I get into it, it is all I can do to keep it on the road. The C6 and 9" posi will lay the HP to the pavement. You struggle to reach towards the dash until it shifts into drive. Sweet!

I also had a 69 Torino Fastback. It had a 351W. The HP rating was 290HP with a 4V and a C6 with a Detroit Locker. I hopped it up some as well and got 350HP out of it. The Cleveland is a small block just like the Windsor motor is. The C motor has large valves and many other differences from the Windsor. Currently, the Windsor has more performance parts available for it than the Cleveland but the Cleveland is the choice motor in NASCAR. Good thing you Dodge boys aren't running me. I got you Hemi right here! Ha ha!

"Cleveland is the choice motor of NASCAR" ? You dug up a post that was dead for almost a year to spew that bit of nonsense ? The motors in most of NASCAR's top series have nothing to do with any stock motors any more; nor have they for a long time ! Maybe its they're top choice to melt down and turn into guard rails; if that's what you meant I suppose you could be right...
