97' RC auto i have had mine up to 120 maybe higher gauge doesnt go past that......but i was reading that 97+ daks top speed was 97?
and might be going to track saturday....se if the V8 TB helped me any ran a 16.3@79 in mid march!

The rev limiter kicks in at 112 but w/ diff tires its tricks the computer. w/ 255/60/17 comp TAs I reached 123.mph You can check it out at CVSR it has a program to show the diffrance in tire Height
Gear diff, you can find out your tire height at tirerack.com

I have had my '98 up to 98 mph. but the front end just won't stay down. It's just way to dangerous. Havn't tried since I lowered it 2" in front and 4" in the back, but it may handle better now.

YOU CAN BYE THE KIT. MY TRUCK BEFORE WAS A 94 4 BANGER TOYOTA.AND TRADE IT IN FOR A USED 98 INTENSE BLUE RT 5.9 IT HAD SOME ENGINE WORK ALREADY.MY FATHER 50 YEARS IN ENGINE REBUIDING.SO
I GOT THE KIT DAD PUT HIS BRAINS AND DID THE WORK TO BUMP 6.7 LT OUT OF IT .AL I CAN SAY IS FOR ANY ONE WHO PUTS ONE IN IS HOLD THE #UCK ON.

I can't see why some of you think that your dak's wont go past 100. I have a 97 4X4 3.9, small mods. And it shuts off at 118-120. It gets up and goes to about 100 then slowly gets up to 115.. I have to be going on a long straight away to get it to shut off. But it will do it and the RPM's arnt that high to worrry about. If you had a 2 wheel drive truck and some nice mods to the motor i cant see why you couldnt break the 120 range. Thats just my input thou. I'm the one still fixing mine from hitting a deer... :(

i know what it is and i know what you had done...
what i meant was a 6.7 is not an orignal motor in a dakota rt. you might have the original block and heads but that may be all. Either way i am having a severe case of engine envy.... sorry

My uncle has a 00 lighting. He said that it shuts down at 140. I was behind him and he tried to walk from me. At 115 I turned the key to start and held on to about 130. He was very surprized. I'm glad I didn't pay 30,000 + for a ford. I will not do that again unless I have the tires for it. Not bad for a 6.

my 97 39.9l stock would hit around 112-115, now that its modified, I had it up to what it clamed to be 117, and still had peddle and rpms to go, but them damn cars keep getting in my way??

Now I admit a 6.7 stroker kit would add up to some fuel costs, but don't think that the 6cyls all get good mileage. I drive mostly around town to work, grocery shopping, stuff like that -- not a whole lot on the highways.
My best mileage to date combined city/highway was 18.01 mpg.
My worst mileage to date, the whole tank being city driving with a/c on, was 12.15 mpg.

I;ve had my 99 Dakota 3.9 at a hunder. I figured that was fast enought for me. I had a 2000 Dakota 4.7 QC. It got better gas molage then the one I have now & by far out performs the V-6. I'm thinking about trading for another V-8. But it will not be anywhere in the near future. So I'll just enjoy the Dakota I have now till then.
