Ok, I know this is the raised/lifted section but I figured it would be the best place to ask..

I have a '99 Dak 4x4 318 with 31x10R15 MTRs on OE wheels and they did rub a little on the frame at full turn.. So I got a new set of wheels with 4.5 bs. instead of the 5.75 bs. original wheels.. Now, my next set of tires is gonna be 33x10R15 BFG MT, so I was wondering if any of you guys out there ever tried to put such tires on their trucks before getting any kind of lift..

I'm aware that they will rub somewhere, and not afraid to cut a little to make them fit.. The front bumper is not a problem since I'm replacing the plastic part for a custom bumper w/ skidplate..
So anything else I should know/do to get those to fit ??

Do any of ya'll know if 32X11.5X15 BFG A/T's will fit on stock rims with no lift and still rub w/o cutting and chopping away?

I've heard that if you get anything more than 10.5, they will rub.

And if they DO rub, will a small wheel spacer help any, say, a 3/16" or so?

My 31x10.5R15 MT/R were rubbing on the frame, so the 32x11.5 will rub for sure.. As for the whell spacer, I'm pretty sure they will not do much of a difference.. You can get a set of steel rims with 4.5' backspacing for cheaper than your spacer,
thats 1 1/4' instead of 3/16'..

You can also do like me and let them rubbing, it shouldnt be that bad really, you might want to remove your mudflaps though..

Hey Nerther I saw you got the K&N FIPK... how did that work out for you? I'm planning on getting one for myself... also, I've been asking all over the place and google-searching everything I can think of but to no avail... anyone know where I can find SUSPENSION lifts for my 04? Every time I ask that question I get answers about blocks and/or torsion bars, and that's all fine and good and appreciated but I'm looking for SUSPENSION lifts... damn impossible to find...

As for suspension lifts, the only thing that I have heard about is a front axle conversion from IFS to Bronco style Dana 44 solid axle. It is supposed to be a 7-9" lift on an early model but would take alot of modification on a 2004 model. Myself, I have 33x10.5 BFG a/t's with a 3" body lift and both tires rub on the inner fenders at the back and barely clear the bumber.

I have 33x12.50's (Dueler's)mounted on my stock rims...just did my lift 3 weeks ago but had my tires on for almost a year with no lift. Jacked torsion bars and cut a little bit and was fine with minimal rubbing. Here in Utah they have these friggin' drainage dips in front of EVERY driveway and side road and I'd have to take them slow or it'd rub bad. But, now with the lift...no rubbing and tomorrow I'm getting my steel black rims installed with less backspacing. Gonna look good ;)

Ok so I'm new at this and might sound stupid, but here goes. How do you "crank up" the torsion bars, and does your truck nose up after this? I want to put 33's on to, but don't want a lift. I am envisioning looking at the sky rather than the road with the front cranked up. How far off base am I?

Ok, I raised mine a bit when I first got my truck. I raised it about 1 - 1.5 inches (guesstimating). You honestly cannot lift it much more than probably about 2", depending on if the bars have already been cranked or not. There is only a certain distance the bolts for the torsion bars will crank.

You also don't want to crank them too high because it can ruin your suspension (if you go off road alot).

If the bars are cranked too much, they will put a strain on the control arm, or suspension arm. So instead of just the suspension arm traveling (swinging) up and down, when they are angled up, it will put pressure on where the arm is attached to the frame.

I hate to say it, but you're not going to get alot of lift just from the torsion bars. But you might just get enough for what you would be doing.

Please tell me if you don't understand something, or have a question...

P.S - be sure to crank the bars EQUALLY on both sides. Otherwise you'll get your alignment out of whack!!!

Turning the torsion bars any...even equally will throw the alignment off. You should get your front-end aligned after turning the torsion bars up or down. You will notice tire wear otherwise down the road.

Craig, I'm not sure about the first few questions, BUT, be careful with wheel spacers, they have been known to break the bolts off b/c the wheel is farther out on the bolt. Just don't put to big a spacer on there if you do.

thanks Ken, i wasnt too excited about doing them. i just want my tires to stick out alittle bit, you know, to throw the mud all over my truck when i go through a hole. if i put 12.50's on my truck, will they stick out without wheelspacers?
