You can think what you want about truckin suspension. If it works on your truck, more power to you

About the body lifts
". The frame hanging below the cab is ugly."
They don't hand down far on Dakotas and don't look bad. BTW have you seen where your torsion bars are, they are way down there. Mine are tucked in with the frame.

"Bumpers need to be raised"
Yes they do, they are done with parts in the kit. What's you point?

"Problems with shifters, ground straps, radiator shroud/fan clearance"
modified shifter as per instructions, no problems, fan shroud moved with brackets.

"The gap between the box and frame"
Lift lips!

"Oh yeah, why does everyone call them 5.2 liters, are you european trash? are you an import racer. Real men talk cubes. "
We call them 5.2's because that's how the auto makers call them. It's how the auto makers have decided to simplify the engine sizing. Do you know why? Because back in the day a 327 cuic engine could be anywhere from 320 to 335 cubic inches depending on the workers on the assembly line and how tight they were keeping there tolerances. The auto makers decided to go to liters in order to round off the figures. When they claim a 5.0, they could have anything from a 289 up to a 306. Larger tolerances means no one can claim false advertisement if they actually measure the CI's of there motor.

So Andy, if you want to come and post on this board, we welcome you. I ask that you show a little respect for the members and the guys who frequent this board. We are looking for people with "constructive criticizm" not flamers.

I must agree. To each his own; right guys. I am glad to hear that the lift worked on Andys truck and I cant wait to see picts of it. If I not mitaken, truckinsuspension is a sister co. of chassis tech. And I have know numeras people using thier products and were happy with them. So totally doggen them is not right. However, they did so some shady crap with knobby. Whic cant go un noticed either.
Basically, we all need to keep our postings on this board respectful to all. All that slammen people for different products used on their trucks is a load of crap. Many people do what they can. No use to dog em for it. Then theirs others like me with a truck, 1990 2wd, that has very limited options. No need to dog us either.
Come on guys. Be gentlemen. Not asses.

You guys have some good points. Yeah, the bars down low like that are not ideal, but oh well. Maybe one day I'll have a solid axle conversion! I guess it just kind of annoyed me about everybody slamming truckin suspension. One day I hope to have a 4wd shop and I would not like it if everyone said bad things about my shop without ample proof. I apologize for my ranting. Those cases like knobbys maybe have to be dealt with between you and the company - not everyone on the chat board. I still don't like the liters - but I'll deal with it

WOW!! A three inch lift? Thats huge. Go run over some sticks with it. By the way, my lift(truckin suspension) went in great. Haven't had problems with it yet. Then again I've only had it in for 2 weeks. While I was putting the lift in I noticed all four ball joints were bad so I replaced them. I would recommend the truckin suspension lift. Clears 35's with stock rims. They do rub on the frame but 1" less backspacing should solve that. If any body has specific questions about the lift e-mail me. I found out a couple secrets to putting it in. Of course there were a couple snags like not shipping enough bolts but I just went to the hardware store for them. No driveshaft vibration and the V-8 seems to have plenty of power even with 3.55's. I would love some lower gears though.

By the way - how do you know you can trust Rancho? Have you personally had experience with them? I'm sure there is at least one person like Knobby out there who had a problem with Rancho. Get what I'm trying to say?

Hey Andy, just a few questions. Who should I talk to at TRKNSUSP to get good info from? So far, most of the phone people I have talked to dont seem to know much about the lifts. I have a 1990 2wd and I want their "huge" 3in coil lift. Better than my 2in spacers I have now. All I want is for them to tell me of 1 name of a person who has this lift on thier truck. All I want is to contact them with questions about its quality. As of 2 years of calling and asking them about lifts, they have told me they are out there but they dont know names. Thanks.

As a matter of fact I have had 3 rancho lifts. All have fit as implied and were easy to install with no glitches. I also had a part break due to a wreck and Rancho shipped it to my buds offroad shop and only charged me for shipping. Whenever you call and ask questions about putting a lift on you get answers not some moron who puts you on hold trying to find an answer for you. I hope you have lots of fun with your lift. I agree there were some things Knobby could have done to make things easier but that still doesn't excuse how he was treated. How come non of you happy customers has any pics of your rigs?

About my brake lines. In the rear I cut off the bracket on the frame that holds the line in place. The brake line is routed on the top inside of the frame so there was plenty of metal line there. I re bent that and welded the bracket to a lower spot on the frame. Oh yeah, we had access to a plasma cutter and that worked great for the brackets and bumpstops in front. For the brake lines in front I unbolted the brackets from the frame and there was plenty of hard line so I just rerouted it lower and welded it to the a-arm spacer. Most of the time just rerouting and bending the stock hard line works just fine as there is enough slack.

To tell you the truth I don't remember who I talked to. I'm a pretty good fabricator so I knew that whatever I bought - as long as it was decent quality - I could make fit. Don't get me wrong, this was not an easy to install kit and the directions weren't the greatest but all the stuff - minus a few bolts - were included and it fit together well. I don't really know much about the other lifts truckin sells and I know that it did take me three weeks to get the lift.

I agree. No offense to any of these guys but you get a lift and it is missing parts and the instructions are not great. If you have experience and the right equip you can rig it in.

I know my mechanic will install the lift for me but he will not expect to have to rig and scratch his head to make it work. Know one should have to do this if it were a good product.

This all makes it sound like a crappy product.

I would like a lift but I am not gonna put something that even a satisfied customer says he likes although the product was shipped incomplete and with poor instructions. I think all kits that posts here have of the TS lift have been incomplete and have to be adjusted to work.

Sorry I can not agree with anyone who backs this product.

I must clarify my post a little bit. All the parts of the kit were there minus a few bolts. Its not to hard to go buy some bolts. They were quality parts and fit together well. I'm going to school now and as soon as I get home again I will take some pictures. Any recommendations on where to post them? I'm not a huge internet guru. Also, I mean no offense to anyone on the site. Some of you folks seem like hypocrites though because you were angry that I came on here saying truckin suspension wasn't a bad company and you guys took offense to that. Then you go and start ripping on me? Doesn't make much sense.

Dude if you were such an internet guru you'd understand that there's some conflict on every site. I think were that fustration lies is that some people on this site had some problems when truckin suspension was begining to produce that kit for these trucks. Maybe they've fixed thier bugs and it's a good lift now, I don't know, but It seems like TS lifts are still a crap shoot on parts. Not a repitable way of doing buisness. Greg

Has anybody noticed that Rancho has released that they will have the 3" suspension lift system for the 2000-2003 Daks and Durangos? Estimated date is 1/31/03. Finally! Just thought I'd give you guys an FYI. Sorry if it's not related to actual subject.

"Rancho is pleased to introduce the industry’s first 3” suspension system for the 2000 -2003 Dodge Dakota 4WD. Available in both “classic” Rancho red and black finishes. This system utilizes the factory rack and pinion steering while maintaining the stock location. "

Andy, I'll put my 3 inch junk body lifted 4.7 liter truck up against yours offroad anytime. You want to know why people are jumping on you? Because your very first post comes across as a loud mouth @sshole. Thats why. You like your TS lift, thats great. Congrats, glad its working out for you. Body lifts junk? Dude, stop smokin that stuff cause its frying your brain. You directly insulted a BUNCH of peoples trucks, then wonder why they are getting on you. I'll talk trucks and lift with you anytime as well. MANY of Knobbys problems were directly related to his lift, in regards to what it LACKED. If I am dropping down $2,000 + on a lift, it dang well better have EXTRA bolts leftover, much less short some.
In case no one can tell, I cant stand blanket statements like body lifts suck or you people dont know trucks.

Lets see there are over 20 people on this board with the PA 3inch body lift. And one of them is me. I love it, it works well. Why do they suck Andy? Can you give me a reason? All opinions have a background, share yours.

When someone makes multiple suspension lifts that work and come well instructed with all the neccesary equipment I will buy one. Until then I will steer clear of any TS products. I agree companies all have glitches. Lets say Rancho makes 10,000 lifts for the new Dakota, and 1000 have problems. Thats a 10% failure rate, not too shabby. So far as installed lifts go, TS has installed i beleive 3 Dakota lifts. Two were crap, and one was fine. So thats a 66.6% failure rate. See my point, Rancho will have a better success ratio that TS, thats why my money will go with Rancho. Andy, lets see pictures.

Andy, I never said you were stupid. Now your acting like a 12 year old. You didnt voice your opinion. You made a factual statement. I quote, "Body lifts are junk". That is made as a factual statement. No one here is slamming TS as a way to justify getting a body lift. I got mine BEFORE TS ever came out with their lift. Fellow member Dakota got his before me. My reason's? There were NO other options available at the time, and even if there were, I DID NOT have $2k + to shell out for a lift. I am not even going to shell out the $$ for the new Rancho kit now thats its coming out, at least not until its been out for a year or so. Maybe you missed it the first time, so I'll say it again. Congrats on your lift. I am glad it is working out for you. Maybe TS has all the bugs worked out. I hope so. Competion in the industy is good. Oh, dont yell, its rude.

Wow.. I leave you guys alone for one week and look what happens on here..

Andy I just want you to notice one thing. The lifts that people are saying has worked from TS are the ones from pre 2000 years. No one has ever had anything good to say about the post 2000 lifts including TS's installer that worked on my truck. THERE INSTALLER GAVE UP AFTER 3 DAYS! That is my second problem my first is they shipped everything to the wrong address. They also mis billed me. That's before I even started working on this my self.

Yes I know the u-joints were going to be stressed. The problem with the u-joints isn't really a problem that TS could have solved. The shop that ended up installing this lift didn't shim the rear end. The Shims with every other lift on the market get sent with the rest of the kit.

If you send the pictures to me I'd be more then happy to post them on my website www.knobbyman.com send me a e-mail to knobbyman@earthlink.net and I'll post them as soon as I get them. And like everyone said... GET LOTS OF PICTURES!!!

Also I don't know what parts you have on your kit because it is a differen't kit then the one I had. But watch the upper bump stops & the shock mounts because mine broke. Also check your brake lines for any signs of rubbing. Your also going to need to get it re-aligned fairly soon... most likelly unless well n/m because you have worm & sector.

Make sure you stay here for more then a few days.. because we're all curious how it's going to work out after a year.

BTW just a update for you guys.. The dealer that has my truck can't sell it.. And they are even trying to sell it for alittle under what I sold it to them for.. :-p

So.. I'm thinking I might buy this back for like $5,000 and then slap a solid axle under neith :-) eh? ... I so wish.
