MOPAR is working on some good stuff right now that will translate into 5.7L improvements for the street.

Long tube truck headers and y-pipe with cats will be available soon. Built by Dynatech, very nice pieces and expensive with good HP and Tq gains on a chassis dyno. I would also anticipate plug wires, valve covers, a cold air induction system, and maybe a premium fuel calibration. Enjoy!

Plug wires on a cap on coil setup? What will valve covers do? 360 already makes a CAI.

Don't know if anyone on here saw it or not, but in Truckin magazine they allready had a supercharger on one making over 500hp on the rear wheels... Not sure what else they had done to it though :/

Maybe you can look it up and see for yourself just what exactly is allready available...

With a supercharger and no other mods the Hemi puts out over 500hp. Long tube headers are supposidly good for 20-30hp and 30tq.

Yeah The Hemi really does need power add-ons, as it is worth nothing in all of its applications. Not one vehicle has broken the 15.00 mark in stock trim. This includes all prototype cars with the Hemi also. What a marketing joke!

I didn't meen it in the way I obviously typed it... All I meant was that I don't know where my Truckin issue is and meant that he could look it up on the internet for past issue specials or something like that and read the article for himself... That's all... Sorry if everyone took it the wrong way... BUT, like RT360 said most of what I have heard on the new Hemi's is that they don't deserve the Hemi name and really don't have the boasted hp and torque that there rated at... BUT, that's also probably with 321 or 355 rear end and the 5 speed for all I know, which in turn would kill hp and torque...

RT360,
The Hemi is not supposed to be a fast truck, A regular cab 2wd will run 15.0 and last time I checked that was as quick as a most stock R/T's. Dodge never claimed the Hemi Ram was supposed to be a performance truck.

Thanks Hemi, finally a voice of reason. All you suckers need to go buy the SRT-10 if you want flat out performance, oh yeah, I forgot it cost $45,000 not the $15,000 Daks cost. Don't hate on the Hemi just because it doesn't and will never come in the Gen III model. I'm pretty sure I will still take any 4.7 quad cab with my 5.7, 3.92 equipped Duravan/Caravango or whatever else you haters want to call it. There I said it, I had to get off my chest. I used to get made fun of for my modded 2.5 '95 Dak (which would regularly toast most 3.9's), now it's my 04 Durango....I can't win with you guys.

Come on, Dodge never claimed the Hemi Ram was supposed to be a performance truck ? Did you miss all those ridiculous drag race commercials ? I thought the first one was the most foolish; anyone who's owned an old v-8 A-body knows who'd really win that race !

The Hemi was hyped as a fast truck since it started on the market. Now if it had a factory blower making the SEMA 500 HP then I would say you have a street fighter truck. If they offered the new R/T (this is a big if) with the 5.7 Hemi and you added a supercharger that would be one mean truck. The SRT-10 is way overpriced and can be easily beat by a Lightning with a chip and pulley for thousands less out of pocket.

Those commercials are no more silly than seeing a Ford truck supposedly towing a ship through a canal, which they ran a few years ago. A couple things seem to be missing here. This engine is being compared to the lore of the 426 Hemi, made when dinosaurs trembled in fear of the Hemi's bellow. When men were men, and NOBODY had slave cylinders on their performance clutches. Obviously the V-10 will be faster than the (5.7)340-something Hemi. (Did they ever decide if it was 345 or 348?). Just the displacement alone would be enough. Add that to some 5000 lbs of lard it has to haul around. Come on, it's not gonna be a rocketship without some good mods. That Rumble Bee is pretty stout. 8psi/517hp/13.5 at 101mph. Gettin' there anyway.

The Hemi is a fast truck, and they may be playing on that, but they are not claiming it is a performance truck like the Dakota R/T. A Dakota R/T is more than just a 360 strapped in a Dakota, it has the suspension and tires etc, to make it handle well as well as perform well. Like eddie said, if you want Dodge's performance truck, go buy a SRT-10 Ram. If you want a pretty fast truck, buy a Hemi Ram.

RT360,
The SRT-10 Ram is not overpriced. Your getting a truck with a viper engine, 6-spd transmission, Hurst shifter, 22inch rims, hood scoop, etc. What does the lightning run in the 1/4? The SRT-10 Ram runs 13.2 stock.

I HAD a2001 Dodge Durango R/T 5.9. I traded for a 2004 1500 ram quad cab 5.7 HEMI, and I LOVE it. Iget better fuel mileage and performance.I also love being slammed back in the seat when I stomp on it , the HEMI is much more powerful than the 5.9.

I'm sorry but I have to be a smartass here - If you think your stock HEMI QC Ram is fast you haven't been in truly fast car/truck. Those things are dogs - even the regular cabs aren't really that fast - not even in the 14's. Get into a WS6, or Lightning - those are quick vehicles.
