Has anyone installed cams after the KB SC is already on, if so, what needs to be taken off to install them. Also, how much power will HO cams add with the KB.

I don't know but i'd also be interested in finding out. I've got the kenne bell on a pretty much stock motor and want to do some more work eventually. I've been looking a the KRC heads. THey have a set that are supposed to be great for the 4.7 with a supercharger..... now if money only grew on trees.. hahaha..

I talked to Bob at Kennedy's Dyno Tune about the HO cams with a KB. He said the best cam for the KB is the stock one. Before you start making mods to an engine with the KB, you need to find a way to make it tunable (not easy). Don't expect any help from KB's tech line. I just installed the Spintech dual exhaust available at GS Motorsports and noticed an improvement and will probably make a trip to the dyno this week to get my a/f checked.

J, I am almost done with the KB install but I noticed that on the wiring pictures that my fuse box is different than the on in the picture. I still found the right color wires but there are some extra connectors that are not shown in the picture. Could this be because I have the towing package on my truck? The instructions I have are for 2000 and up, I have an 01 Quad.

It could be that the fuse box for the 01 is different? If you could get your hands on a service manual for your truck, you could find out what those connections are for.

J, how do you like the water injection? Did it make any improvements in performance or fuel mileage? If any mileage changes were noticed, what were they? I am thinking of putting a system on my 2003 Ram 4.7 but don't know much about them just yet. Thanks.

I didn't notice any change in mileage. The improvement in performance came mainly from being able to drive it harder because I didn't get pinging as bad as I did before. My main reason for putting it on was to suppress detonation. It was shortly after that, that I found out my problem was that I was running lean. And I've been trying to fix that ever since. Go to kennedysdynotune.com. They have a pretty nice kit there with lots of info if you are thinking of getting one.

The injection kit allows you to run more boost right??? Like 2-3 more psi, I'd like to run the 8 psi pulley but i think i'll get injection first. BTW.... j does your TPS sensor hit your brake fluid resevoir???? Mine does and it keeps cracking. It;s hasn't blown a code or anything yet but i really want to fix it.... any suggestions???

Sorry, I haven't had any problems with my TPS sensor. Yes, running water injection will allow you to run more boost or more timing (assuming you are not currently having detonation like I was).

I'm not having serious problems. I do get a few blips on the detector but i've been told that's normal. How bad were you getting detonation???(like hitting orange every time)... How close is your TPS to the resevoir, mine doesn't hit unless i goose it, but its only got like a 1/8 inch space. Is yours the same???? I'm going to try and find a mopar resevior with the same spacing but a different offset. Can you switch to the 8psi pulley without any programming?? I'm going to call kennne Bell but i need to get an hour i can spend on hold.. hehe.........

My resevoir is the same way as yours razor, I have had any problems yet but it looks like it might do what yours is doing. Do you have the towing package? I do and I wonder if thats why, b/c the directions dont show the resevoir being that close and my PDC is completely different. It is possible to run the 8-10 pound pulley without reprogramming but its kind of pointless b/c it will just retard the timing more and just make around the same hp. To do that effectively you really would need to get something like the SMT-6 to control A/F ratios and completing remap it to the different sized pulley. I believe you can have 2 setting with the SMT-6, you could set one for 6psi for normal driving and one for 8-10 psi for racing. This is what I am planning on doing.

It was pretty bad, but I never went into failsafe mode. It always backs out the timing before you get too many pings. I would think you would need programming for the new pulley, maybe to take some timing out, or put some fuel in (or both). Let me know what Kenne Bell says, if you ever get a hold of them.

So if I install the HO cams and have my pcm reflashed by KB will that work? The reason why I say that is because they ask on the sheet what cams you have and the lift and duration. Do you think they will be able to tune it for that?

They can tune the KB Optimizer II for it...

IIRC, Lynn has HO cams and the KB Optimizer II...

How it operates with the S/C is another story, though.

So would that be a, yes do it, or sell the cams and dont screw with it. I want to get the SMT-6 eventually. Maybe I should buy that first and then put the cams in.

If you have a spare hour or so, you could call KB and ask them if they do reflashes. I don't think they do, but it doesn't hurt ot ask. Let me know how the SMT-6 works out. Do you know how you are going to hook it up? What do you do about the Optimizer computer that came with the s/c? I don't think it can be removed completely because the wiring harness plugs into it. Maybe it can just be bypassed?

I looked up the SMT-6. Its sounds pretty good. I just don't know who the hell i could get to acttually do the tuning??? You'd want to do it on a dyno I'm assuming. And the stuff J mentioned about the Kenne Bell programming. I know there's a site around where the Cherokee guys have done this. I just can't remember the site. It would be interesting to find out what they did. I think they all had the detonation problems same a you J.

I think they also had older KB kits and the setup was different (easier to get rid of the optimizer).

I think you can bypass certain parts of the optimizer, I'm not exactly sure how it would work. The reason to keep the optimizer II would be for the shift points and higher rev limiter. I will do some more research on how this can be done.

I didn't mean the optimizer II (the flash). I'm referring to the optimizer computer that comes with the s/c kit. The one that has the vacuum line going into it and controls the aux injectors.
That's the one I would like to get rid of. I was thinking of getting the additional injector controller from Split Second. It has its own MAP sensor and would replace the optimizer with something that is adjustable. The problem is, the KB kit for the 4.7 also uses a MAF sensor. What happens to that input?
