I'v got one better,,,

I am going to hook up 8 of toolfan's leaf blowers so they look like a stack of Hilborne injectors poking out through the hood and then a bed full of dirtdevil's shop vacs to the exhaust,,,

NOW we can really race...

Only problem I am having is sourcing a 20,000 watt inverter to supply all of the blowers and vac's and wondering if the stock altrernator can power a 20,000 watt invertor.

Might just be cheaper to get a 1800' roll of #8 romex and plug it into the tree at the drag strip.

Wonder if NHRA has any rule against jacking the power off the tree's green light and/or having an umbilical cord stringing out behind the truck.

Actually it's a pretty sweet setup. As soon as the green light comes on, the blower and vac instantaneously start blowing and sucking,,, increase the engines power 3 fold, thus rocket you down the 1/4 mile. At the end of the 1/4 mile you reach the end of the 1800 power cord and it unplugs it's self reducing the engines power 3 fold and slowing your vehicle safely.

Well, if they let us plug it in then I'm gonna need about 4000' of welding cable, a GE 752 traction motor from a locomotive, and a Freightliner tranny - might have to beef up the suspension on the Dak a bit though...

There is a start. It works on much smaller motors than ours but
as batteries increase in power and decrease in cost then this
system will work in larger motors. One more for you
disbelievers.

With a dyno sheet and all.
So for you figgin morons who think you know everything and
have no usefull information to ad, get a life.
Oh yea the smog pump idea has been done. It took 6 pumps to
make 5 psi on a mildly cammed 305 in a third gen camaro. dont
ask me how he found the room to get them all in there.

Ok, here's the bottom line. One of the most powerful professional leaf blowers out there is only capable of 700 cfm and your typical blowers are 400 or less. This is the same problem with so-called e-superchargers. If you can't exceed the engines requirements the best you can hope for is to break even.

i am going to keep the intake i already made for my truck so it will still have a good source of breath. i bought the leaf blower and its was the cheapest on the market, $36. the blower blows 150mph at 285cfm 120 Volts. what i am going to have to do is get another battery to power the blower it self and relocate the on and off switch to in side the cab. i will probably work on this over the week.

That will help all the way up to around 1500 rpms when your
need for air will exceed the capacity of the leaf blower. You need
way more power than that man. If you still feel the need to try
then go ahead but thats not enough to power a 1.7L honda.
Make sure you keep it looking nice so you can take it back for
your $36.

DSW has a point there, what could it hurt? If it doesn't work all you have to do is pull the thing back off, and recommission it as an actual leaf blower:) By-the-way, how many amps does that blower pull?

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Dual tb spacers wouldn't hurt either. If one is good then two should be twice as good.

I think the guy with the methane injection idea is the best so far.

Toolfan, I'm not trying to discourage you from experimenting and trying out the noggin(too many people now-a-days let others think for them) but you do realize that you'll need at least a 900 Watt convertor to power that thing...you might possibly need more if start-up current is high enough.

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

try a fan like this

SPEED HIGH MED LOW
CFM 2181 1746 1282
RPM 1475 1275 950
AMPS .80 .62 .50
WATTS 90 74 58
dBA 60 59 53

2181 cfm and only .8 amps sonds better than the leaf blower to me
Product Dimensions: 11-1/2"L x 9-1/4"W x 11-1/4"H
cut the handles and legs off and i think u got a winner for only 56$

The key to forced induction is compression. That thing might move 2181cfm open air with no restriction, but 90 watts isn't going to force anything into your intake, if anything it'll cause more restriction.

Dirtdevil, toolfan is just going to have to learn about forced induction the hard way.
