Hey folks,

Just a plug for The Fastman (www.thefastman.com)

I was directed to him from someone from this forum to purchase a new, tuned up throttle body for my 4.7 and I couldn't be happier!

The TB was nicely polished and cleared of all obstruction. Directions were easy to understand for the "uninitiated" and the TB went right on.

He charges $80 for the core and refunds when the core was received.

5 Star Service! Can't say enough good about him.

Chip

It is hard to tell since I changed the intake and re-programmed the PCM at the same time - I was looking for a cumulative effect.

What I got is a truch which now is, pretty much, unbeatable at the green light and gets about 2 MPG more around town.

I spin the tires about 7 seconds longer than before and...i don't know... just feels better.

The new part, in comparison to the old part had fewer restrictive surfaces than the old. From the lip on the old one to the screws attaching the throttle blade were flush along with the rest of the hardware.

Like I said, a cumulative effect, but just looking at it should convince you of the efficiency.

Hey Fastman! Post some pictures of the modifications as compared to stock.

Chip

I hope TheFastMan TB is excellent. I ordered the 68mm TB for my 4.7 Dakota around 6-14 and he hasnt shipped yet. He says he is behind on orders! But, he has answered all my questions and seems like a good guy. I expect it to be a good mod. I just wish the shipping was faster!

I wouldn't worry. Dan is a stand up guy and he will get it out to you. Shoot, if you ordered parts from KRC or socaldakota you would be looking at similar delivery time frames as well. Enjoy the new TB when you get it!

I could not wait. I went ahead and looked it up. Not a bad deal, but is it carb legal? I don't know about the rest of the country, but i assume socal is the worst for that kind of crap.. If worse comes to worse i could save the old one and put it back in. do you know any thing about that crp

I don't have an official time because I can't keep the rear wheels from spinning when I try. If I lay off of the throttle initially, it skews the time. I need to put a few sand bags back there for a better test.
As for emissions... NJ has always been pretty weird due to the fact that they look at the exhaust ratios and not what is actually being put out. Sometimes you need to de-tune the vehicle in order for it to pass inspection. I think this is for extreme cases and I have never experienced it myself, but I have heard that it happens.

I'd be willing to bet that the TB does not have a CARB number. If it doesn't, it's not emissions legal. If you live in CA, you may not pass the inspection. But the tech may not notice it.

If you remove any identifying marks, sticker, etc, and then paint it with Eastwood Aluma Blast, I bet nobody would notice it.

Thought I'd chime in and say that I absolutely love my TB from Fastman (Dan Arcand). He's a great guy to deal with, fast, reliable, and honest. I would recommend him to anyone who asked.

Since the Fastman TB is a reworked stocker, it is hard to tell the difference if you are not familiar with them. It would have a better chance passing a visual inspection than a shiny new billet F&B.

And there is no CARB number for any of the aftermarket TBs that I am aware of.

I have a 53 mm tb for THE FASTMAN that works great. In fact i was so pleased that I bought a 2800 stall converter from him as well. I gotta tell you if you want to feel your truck wake up try one of his converters. Just my two cents.

I've had a 46mm Fastman TB for about 3 years on my '99 V6. I live in So Cal and have had 2 smog checks and passed them both.

There is NO WAY a smog tech can see any difference between the Fastman and stock without removing the air hat and they never do that.

From the outside, the Fastman TB looks stock in every sense of the word. Only by looking at the inside of the TB can an experienced tech see any changes, and even then, I'd bet he would miss it.

Buy it and enjoy....No worries at all.

thanks you guys. I had forgotten that it is just a reworked stock part. I should have no trouble at all. It does seem for the money that this is the best mod out there. I have not heard any cons like you do for those throttle body spacers. Anyone have any sort of gripe.( not that it matters, gonna gt it) late

Just wanted to add another good word on the FASTMAN TB. Dan was great to deal with . The 68mm TB was noticably larger than my 65mm.The truck definitly pulls harder through the upper rpms. I have not been to the track with the 68mm yet, so I cant give a hard number on the increase, but I'm sure my ets will improve. Truck is a 2000, 4.7, 5spd,355 lsd with HO cams and intake. Overall I'm another satisfied customer. BTW I just had my emmision check done with the 68mm, passed no problem.
