Well I haven’t heard nothing but praise for the Colorado’s come out of your mouth and I just get the feeling your not a Dakota or even a Dodge owner so what would you be doing here rather then to knock ,(flame),and disagree with everyone that does own a Dodge! There has been a lot of guys just messing around this site trying to do there best just to make folks miserable maybe I jumped to conclusions if so I appolligize.I can almost bet that none of our guys over here get the kicks and rocks off by going to a chevy or ford forum just to disagree or irritate other folks and it just ticks me off when people that board want to make others life’s as miserable as theres.Like I say if I jumped to conclusions I appolligize. What year Dakota or Ram did you say you had?

Yeah that actually is a good point Josh.
If ppl COMSTANTLY come here to talk about how much better another truck is on a DODGE site, then they're basically nothing but a flamer to us.

There are some other trucks I like I'll admit. Like the F350. Nice SOLID truck.
But the Dakota does a really good job for being a solid MID SIZED truck that's capable of any 1/2 ton truck. The Colorado is a thin piece of recylcled Beer cans! I'd get a (cough - cough) Tacoma before I'd buy a Colorado.

This has to be the funniest thread i've read in a long time.I'm just guessing most of you must be young.Brand loyality is just stupid. As long as the truck or car itself has a good track record is what matters.
We have tried many differant trucks for our business over the years. The dakota never made any sense.wouldn't even think about a v6 one, dodge hasn't made a good 6cyl sense it did away with the slant six.if you going to get the v8 its damn near a full size,so get the full size.
The only dodge we have left is a cummings powered 3/4 ton.awesome truck. If you want to pull this is the one.
The 1/2 ton dodges kept having so many problems they were traded in before the warrantee's were up.
Sorry but the dakota has nothing on the titan except gas mileage.Full size so it shouldnt count.Way more power than a 1/2 ton needs.like the hemi, they both suck gas like crazy.
The new frontier is an amazing little truck and it pulls just fine.Good mid range work truck.
The ranger is a turd,no pulling power but did get great gas mileage.
Dont know about the yota's.havent had one sense the early 90's.way to expencive for what they
are.
The colorados have been damn good little trucks.started buying them and chevy express vans a few years ago when dumbass gm quit making the astro cargo vans. They pull equiptment trailer's around all the time and get decent mileage.and they have a modern look that looks good pulling on a job site and have been very dependable.
The z71 crew cab 4x4 is just one tough looking truck.just bought one to drive around myself as a personal truck.
Will they out pull a v8 trucks pulling a trailer?dont know, never saw the need to.why would it matter? If i need to pull heavy loads I get a bigger truck.
I do know i would much rather pull a 7000lb trailer with a cummings dodge than a dakota any day.the mid size truck is a ballance between mpg, room, power and usefulness.
I cant believe chevy is putting a v8 in the coloardo next year.whats the point? If you want to go fast buy a mustang viper or z06.Or the new challanger coming out.now thats a bad ass looking dodge.

"hellyeah" - I can help with some of your confusion. We're not all young; I for one am 50.
"Will they outpull a (sic) v8 trucks pulling a trailer ?" You don't know ? You've got to be kidding. Of course they won't, Colorados are quite underpowered to do the kind of towing I do with my Dakota. The eqiptment trailers they are pulling for you must not have much weight to them. I don't need a Diesel to pull 7000; my v8 Dakota handles that duty easily and is much easier to park in today's smaller parking spaces. We've had constant problems with the both of the 2 Chevy trucks we have at work; while my '00 Dakota remains trouble free. Sometimes, it's just the luck of the draw. As for why a v8 in a smaller truck, many of us enjoy decent acceleration in a vehicle we will own for all around use. And Mopar's current 3.7 six seems to be a great motor.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear up your confusion !

oh , i'm so sorry.all hail the almighty dakota.the best truck ever made.there is nothing that can out pull it,run faster, get better mileage or look better.they all run 250,000 miles plus, while keeping all other tuck owners wishing they themself could find one of those perfect gems.

/"hellyeah" - I can help with some of your confusion. We're not all young; I for one am 50.

then you should know better

/"Will they outpull a (sic) v8 trucks pulling a trailer ?" You don't know ? You've got to be kidding. Of course they won't,

never tried and dont really care was my point, didn't buy a small truck to pull heavy loads.

/Colorados are quite underpowered to do the kind of towing I do with my Dakota.

then its a good fit for you,its damn near a full size so why didn't you just get the full size with the same motor and stronger running gear?have you driven the new 07 colorados?they run pretty strong.

/The eqiptment trailers they are pulling for you must not have much weight to them.

between 3-4000lbs,a small roller or a few mowers,3-4 guys in a crew cab.

/I don't need a Diesel to pull 7000; my v8 Dakota handles that duty easily

i'd like to see a dakota pull a bobcat around easily everyday and hold up like a diesel, and get good mileage doing it.

/and is much easier to park in today's smaller parking spaces.

never had a problem there.

/We've had constant problems with the both of the 2 Chevy trucks we have at work; while my '00 Dakota remains trouble free. Sometimes, it's just the luck of the draw.

could be luck of the draw.they all make good ones and bad ones.could be drivers too.the 3 trucks that only i drive have fewer problems than the ones my guys beat the hell out of.part of doing business.

/As for why a v8 in a smaller truck, many of us enjoy decent acceleration in a vehicle we will own for all around use.

i agree, but how much is enough?the titans times are down near what my 65 gto was stock.the 80 mustang gts 5.0 had 220 horse,my colorado has 245hp with the 5 cyl.i'd take a trade in some of the power for mileage.

/And Mopar's current 3.7 six seems to be a great motor.

i hope it is,i'm sick of the imports beating on the us automakers.the dodge v6s of the 80s and early 90s left a bad taste in my mouth.

/Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear up your confusion !

i never said they were bad trucks, they just dont fit for what i need in a small truck.your 50 so you remember when a truck was a truck.now everything 1/2 ton and lower is made more for ride and comfort.
yeah a dakota will pull 7000lbs around.but you cant tell me its not hard on the truck.whats that, around the weight of a bobcat and trailer? give me a 3/4 ton anyday.
its just funny people are so brand loyal and everything else is just junk.the dakota has its place, but that doesn't mean its the only good choice.

Not too mention a nearly year old thready. What a loser a$$ Chevy lover to search out Dodge boards to talk sheet!

Titan times as good as a GTO? I never knew GTO muscle cars ran sub 16 sec 1/4 miles!

Many Dodge V6 engines in the 80's and 90's sucked because they were dropping in Mitsubitchi engines (excluding the 3.9 in the Daks).

Some stock 5.0 Fords were only rated at 140 HP in the 80's. Bet they still had more torque than a 5 cylinder Colorado did and would tow better in a truck.

Someone sure believes everything in print.

Hey Graphite, et. al.,

Those Colorados/Canyon, are such POS's.

They look candy, and get even get out of their own way!

Everytime I pull up next to one on a Road somewhere, I romp on it and try and get them to play alittle. In the mirror, I can barely make out their jaws dropping open at the torque and acceleration my Dak has over their .....?truck?.

Hellyeah,

Dude, your kinda stupid huh? I'm glad you can go buy whatever truck you want for the job, but the people like me on here have money enough for one have Dakotas. If that Titan can beat your GTO, than you should race me for pinks. I could use a muscle car to play with.

And yeah, Colorados are junk. I used to drive one at my last company, and with things like the e-brake cable hanging 4 inches below the frame rail where it can easily be ripped out by rebar or anything sticking out of the ground, I'd rather buy a Honda civic and lift it like a truck!;)

Ant Eater? I think the Gen III looks great. I prefer the looks to the brand new one. But the new ones are not even as fugly as a Colorado LOL!

What's even more funny, is people sticking flowmaster or similar exhausts on them 5 and 6 bangers. Talk about sounding like a wet fart going down the road!

If Chevy does stick a V8 in it, I may give it some respect. While it's a spam can in compare to a Dakota, it would hauil a$$ with a V8. But I'll see it when I believe it. $10 says they'd be changing the entire truck before they add a V8. The truck is too fragile for a V8. I've been in one. I was afraid to walk onto the tailgate because it felt like it would bend.
