Watch out dakota 4.7 and R/T there is a 300hp supercharged 4.0 V6 Toyota Tacoma coming out this fall. So if you see one on the street even though they are just a crapy toyota they are not to be taken lightly.

I know it is just toyota and most likey it will not have any torque but I read it in Car and Driver why would they be wrong on reporting a 300hp supercharged tacoma coming out this fall the are makeing a non supercharge version with 240hp also called the X-runner.

The problem with the little charged up trucks is they can do car stuff, but not truck stuff. No torque as mentioned before. The Dakota is a truck not a car with a little truck looking body.

TRD has had superchargers for the Tac's (from TRD) for several years now. I know of one locally that had it installed. That's on the older 22RE V6 engine if I remember correctly. They will still get up and go, but they are also much lighter from all those recycled Kirin cans! :)

The Toyotas are over rated and for a light weight truck with a supercharger, they are not very impressive. The obvious problem is their lack of torque. I did read a recent article in Truck Trend regarding this truck and it still lacks torque much like the older S-Runners. If you fear this Toyota then you're easily scared.......

Actually, I read the new x-runner is making 240hp and 270lbs/tq from the 4.0 V6, not bad at all, 10 more hp then the 4.7 and only 25lbs less tq, being lighter it should be a very close matchup

by the way, the new 2005 dak will be available w/ a 300hp naturally asperated v8 from the fac, spend the same cash on a blower just like you would on the tacoma and you still have a better truck w/ the dak. also, what type of crappy s/c does trd have if it only adds 60 hp (240-300). also, a srt dak will come out that will smoke any trd crap if trd only runs v6s and underpowered v8s

Some people are so blinded by brand loyalty that they sound extremely stupid and misinformed. A Tacoma is a great truck regardless of how many cylinders or how much hp/trq it has. Toyota has always been known for its quality and the trucks they make proves this fact. Someone asked about the "crappy" supercharger from TRD since it "only" gives you 60 additional hp. Are you crazy or just blind? 60hp is quite a sufficient amount to come directly from the factory. Look at some of the other forced induction vehicles out there today and you will see that the amount over stock is ample. Hell, GM supercharges 87 million vehicles it has with the 3.8L and the amount over the non boosted 3.8 is not that large. Come on and stop being so brand loyal that it handicaps your judgement.

well put,JC,toyota is an excellent brand no matter how you slice it.just because you have preference doesnt mean you should knock a brand that in my opinion is superior to dodge or any other "domestic" anyway.every GM,Ford,or Dodge my parents ever owned gave them hell.right now they sport a 94 toyo truck,a 98 camry,and an 03 tundra.not one small problem with any of them.
i love my R/T like it was my child,but it pissed me off when the factory exhaust practically fell off,and im really sick and tired of the mil light coming on.and the great dealer service has me waiting a week before they can "fit me in" and when they do,the light comes on the next day and they cant "fit me in" for another week.been going on for over a month now.my parents toyota dealer calls them about a week before every forcasted oil change and asks if there are any problems so he can know ahead of time.
in conclusion,toyota is a great brand,dodge is a good one.lol.

The S-Runner had a mid to low 6s 0-60 time and ran high 14s in the 1/4 mi. If the new one's faster than it should kill stock R/T and 4.7 Daks. The new dak will probably run low-mid 15s since it only comes in quad cab, and it looks to be heavier than the current generation, also.
