The problem most of the time is not the engineers. Usually the engineers can design a product to last a million miles. The problem lies in the financial department. The engineers design a product to last but its over budget, so they have to cut corners thus there goes the quality. Also you need to sell aftermarket OEM parts to keep a profit in that department. Therefore a product needs to last the warranty to keep warranty costs down, then it can break after the warranty has run up so you can keep the aftermarket department making a profit. I work in Research and development for a heavy duty truck transmission company I see this everyday. Don't blame engineers blame the financial department. btw I'm not an engineer.

This type of complaining is because Dodge Dakotas are having too may problems vs the miles driven. Bad ball joints, bad brakes, I've even had the Transfer Case rebuilt and all before I've even reached 60k miles! You can say that Toyota reliability is a myth, or doesn't apply to their trucks, or whatever. This is just making excuses for Dodge because you don't want to admit that the quality of the Dakota is inferior to many other manufactures. Read Consumer Reports, JD Powers, etc... Customer satisfaction is much higher for Toyota owners, there are fewer problems per vehicle AND if you go to the Toyota boards, you see very little negative posting. Not like here.

I can't wait to trade in my Dakota on a Tundra. That's saying something, because before owning a Dodge, I wouldn't have even picked up a brochure of something with a Japanese name (even though I know it is made in USA). In other words, I will do whatever I need to do to minimize the risk of have the same problems I've had with this Dakota.

The reason there is so much complaining on this site is because it's open to all. By not having to be registered any moron can come on here to make complaints real or not. Why else would toyota owners give a crap about Dodge vehicles?

Well, I'm not currently a Toyota owner. Right now I have a Dodge Dakota. After owning this truck I decided to research which company I would buy my next truck from. I love not having a car payment, but I don't trust these trucks to last much past the payoff. I'm going to get something that will.

Go ahead, buy a Toyota and be proud of owning the most god awful ugly truck on the market.

BTW - I hope you get a cash back rebate on your truck because you'll need it to pay the collison shop to repair the mule kick I'll do to your door when you park that oversized piece of Jap crap next to my pickup.

If you drive a Foreign car, don't bitch about your stock portfolio either.

You can say it is ugly if you want. That's a matter of opinion. The Toyota is as Japanese as the Dakota is German. I hope you do wait until I get my Tundra before you mule kick it, because if you do that to my Dakota, the wheel will fall off due to faulty ball joints.
My portfolios are doing just fine, thanks for your concern. They will do better though, when I can invest my money instead of repairing Daimler-Chrysler's POS.

Mr. Sleepy...people like you make me sick. I dont give a sh*t what you have against someone else's car, if you damage it because you're too stuck up in your own shallow pride to respect someone else's property, you are f*cking pathetic. Theres NO excuse for that kind of behavior. Go back to junior high and write on the desks. Dumba$$
