Hehe, funny you should ask. I just got mine line-xed last tuesday. I have had both Line-x and Rhino in the past on two other trucks. I like them both. The Rhino is a bit more rubberier than the Line-x but the line-x is a little less prone to being gouged or cut. With that said, neither gouges or cuts really easily. The line-x is more asthetically pleasing to the eye. Both are very good. Get the one that you like the looks of the best and who will give you the best price. I know that doesnt really help much but like I said after having owned both , I like them both. In case you were wondering, I went with the line-x again for 2 reasons. 1. The rhino dealer wanted to charge me the same price as for a fullsize bed for my quad cab, the line-x guy didn't. 2. I wanted my toolbox sprayed and the Rhino guy wouldn't do it because it was not one of the boxes he sold.

I just put Herculiner in my bed, rail and on tail gate. It is no where near as thick as the sprayed in ones but it was only $79.00 at SAM'S Club. I will probably put a hard bed liner in when I can afford it. Neither the sprayin liners or the Herculiner will prevent dents if your load come lose and slide in the bed.

That is one thing you dont have to worry about with either the line-x or the rhino. Things dont slide. Especially if the truck has been sitting in the sun. It makes it a little more tacky. Another plus of them is that they are not too hot to sit on or touch bare skin with after sitting in the sun. Sure make it nice when at the beach. Ploping down on a hot tailgate can be very uncomfortable. :-)

Just made the choice this weekend. I chose the line-x because 1) I'd read good things about it, 2) I liked its appearance better, and 3) it was cheaper here in Dallas.

Whichever you choose, make sure you are comfortable with the installers. I had Line-X of Red Oak do mine and they did a great job! Very impressed with their attention to detail and they went the extra mile with their service. I'm extremely happy with mine.

ARMACOAT !

I had my truck sprayed with an Armacoat liner.
The liner is tough! Much harder than RhinoLiner.

There wasn't much comparison between Rhino and
Armacoat. I have not looked at the Line-x
liners.

I would suggest looking up to see if there is
an Armacoat dealer near you to check this out !

Went with Line-X (over the rail) several months ago on my new QC. Liked the finished look better than RHINO, $95 cheaper (not a deciding factor, but appreciate saving money). Done a fair bit of hauling already. Looks like new when cleaned with a high pressure sprayer at the car wash.

i live in sacramento, CA, and happen to work for rhino linings of sacramento. i work with one of the pioneer rhino shops, and one of the first sprayers, and i can say that our work is twice as thick and we have rarely have complaints about our material gouging or peeling etc.

but as recently as today i ran into a guy with a paper thin bed liner. he had all his work tools in the bed and it was obvious he used his truck daily. i asked him if his liner was line-x and he said yeah as he noticed my rhino linings hat. than he started telling me how he'd had his done two months ago (over the rail) and it was already peeling away from the rail in three spots.

because i work for this co. i am of course biased. but mostly this is because i KNOW the work we do. our product is chemically stronger and from what i have seen holds up better than line-x.

i am happy to have found this site just to hear what other people think...

I had the rhino lining sprayed in a year ago last november. The guys are right on the tackyness, and comfort in the summer. I'm in Ontario, Canada and let me say that when there is a little sno win the back, the liner is very slippery! I did gouge the tailgate while loading a dirt bike myself. Can't expect few hundred pounds and foot pegs not to do something. The good thing is that I have a lifetime warranty on the liner. The best thing is that the warranty stays with the truck from owner to owner. In all, I'm pretty happy with my rhino linning. $520CDN over the rail!

I have a Rhino lining. And am very happy with it. Wish I'd gone over the rails though. Anyone considering it, just go over the rails and be done with it. It's worth it not to deal with scratches and chips from tossing stuff over the edge.

Hawkeye - bummer on the dude that wouldn't spray your workbox. I had to massive dents in my wheels that my Rhino dealer took out for free. I also saw an old Ford Bronco that they had done. Dude took out the seats and all the interior and had the floor sprayed with Rhino instead of carpet. This guy was serious into off-roadin'. Looked sweet and did the job.

In all honesty I think that where you buy your Line-X (or Rhinoliner) bedliner from makes more difference than which one you buy. I have had the exact opposite experience that c.k. had. I had a Line-X bedliner sprayed in about 4 months ago, and it's about a half-inch thick. I've used the HE!! out of that thing, and it looks the EXACT same as the day I got it. I have a buddy who got a Rhinoliner, and it looks good but doesn't hold up anywhere near as well as my Line-X has. If anyone goes to get a sprayin, they would do well to ask about the bedliner as well as who is installing it.

Current mods: A MUFFLER. That's it. (For now.)
Future mods: Tonneau cover
Underdrive pulleys
Removal of clutch fan
K&N FIPK
17" rims
And much, much more...

I saw an interesting story on Fox News Channel today Apr. 2. It was about Line X brand bed liners. The story was about the line-x's materials ability to absorb impacts, and control debris after an impact on a line-x coated surface. They showed a demonstration of a guy throwing a cinder block off a roof, probably about 12 ft. in the air, onto the concrete below... onto regular concrete, the brick shattered. when throw onto a line-x coated section of concrete, the cinder block remained intact. They said the Pentagon and line x are talkin about the possible use of line x in the Pentagon I guess in case of bomb blasts as a way of controling impacts and debris. It was interesting to see another use for what i have sprayed in my Dak's bed.

I went with Line-x a little over a year ago in my Dak, and it still looks like the day i brought it home. I have hauled everything from lumber to huge retaining wall bricks, and it always has come out fine, with no signs of wear. My reasons, I liked the look a little better, but most important it was 50 bucks cheaper than the Rhino.

I agree with Line-x, I've had it in my dak for over a year now, no problems, and i beat the sh*t out of it. I've seen people with rino liners and they are sloppy and rubbers, line-x was extreemly professionaly done and is neat and trim. The Rino guy a few posts above said it was paper thin, well thats because it can stand up to anything unline rino which needs to make it super thick to work. anyway, I live in IL and i definately recommend Line-X!

Its not the liner but WHO installs it.

I had RhinoLiner and they also sprayed a set of Nerf bars for a 4X4 I had.
Never showed any signs of wear after about a year and a half of abuse.

Next time I am going Line-x for one reason CHEAPER!
I never beat on it hard enough to justify the extra cost.

I looked at rhino liners, but after seeing what a friend of mine's looked like after about a year- held up well but had a chalky kind of look to it. I went with z-liner from ziebart- been over a year and it held up great and is just about as glossy black as when it was installed. plus I liked the pattern better than the others. also non-skid and lifetime warrenty--I believe it was $350 applied over the rails...

I started a 4 wheel drive club hear in colorado in the late 70's and have seen alot of bed liners in my day. In the early 80's I started a construction co that is still in business today. Loaded pickups with everything from welders to rock and as a result I have had atleast 20 rino liners and well over 100 line-x liners. Do the Math! In my book there is no comparison!!!

Im a Vortex dealer. Ive been spraying a little over 5 months. I dont know it all but I have seen Rhino and lineX peeling. The reason for peeling is not enough sanding at the prep time. LineX ( around here) does a 1/8 inch thick linerand if you want 1/4 inch its 80-100$ more. prices start at abotu 340.
For a dakota I charge 300 under rail 350 over rail for 1/8th thinck
for 1/4 thick all around I add abtou 80-100$ that still puts me 30-40$ below lineX and 50-80$ below Rhino. the highest liner I have is 530$ but thats for a full size long bed truck over the rail at 1/4 thick. Most people get the 1/8 thick liner. i usually go a little past that at 3/16 or so. the bed floor I tend to go a little thicker. Im not worried abtou using a little extra material. I jsut want the guy to be happy and get protection on the bed. If the guy has a good attitude I usually spray the bed floot 1/4 thick jsut because I can. I do this part time and i have a mobile service. i give a lifetime warranty jsut liek Rhino and lineX Im ocmpetitively priced and If someone brings me in a written quote from a competitor its a automatic 20$ off their lowest price.
Oh yeah i offer a mobile service for people who dont have the time or the means to bring the truck in. Usually I end up doing the bumpers, I get a lot of trailers lately.
Vortex is pretty good I havent had anyone complain yet.Once cured its pretty hard and does not gouge easily. Im in southern california and Ive done jobs as far down to San diego. I usually do big jobs mobile but I wont turn down anything. I personally wouldnt care if you brought your tool boxes in to me. if you want them sprayed I spray them. After all its stupid to turn down money
if you guys want some truthful answers abotu spray liners let me knwo. I can send samples if anyone is intrested

I looked at both the Rhino and Line-X sites and have noticed that neither Corp. stands by any warranty. All warrantys are provided by the individual dealers. Can you imagine trying to get
a bouched up liner out of a bed. I guess all you can do is be sure that whomever you choose knows
what he is doing.
In this area the Rhino is about$50 cheaper.

I've had the Line-X for ~ 6 mos. No complaints as it looks and works great, but then I don't work it too hard either. My only complaint is the dealer glued his local Line-X plastic decal in the bed. When I saw it I told him I wanted it removed, he said it's glued in and will leave an ugly messy residue that will look bad. PISSED me off.

Just to let all of you know you can shoot your own bedliner if you go to an auto paint store and ask them how it is done.

I found the Rust-Oleum Road Warrior "roll-on" bedliner kit on clearance at a scratch and dent store, bought three gallons for $75 and then went to a local automotive paint store and purchased a special spray gun for $40 that is designed for viscous coatings (bedliners).

I sprayed the rear bed and the floor pans of a Cheby W/T 1500 pickup that I use in the lawncare business.

It is not hard to spray an under the rail but I assume that an over the rail is more difficult.
