Subject: Good set-up for when i get my r/t?
IP: Logged

Message:
Well i'm going to have some money soon hopefully, which is why I am planning to buy a brand spankin' R/T. I can't leave anything stock no matter what I get so hear is a list of mods i want to do:

- shaker hood/induction
- mopar computer
- true duals
- auto shift kit
- headers
- those roadmaster active susp. things.
- dvd head unit
- two 10" subs

thats about it... i'm in canada so i don't particularly want to lower the truck. But if i did lower it in that off chance; what are the adverse effects on ride quality?

Also any suggestions on the mods? I drive a neon right now that is modded pretty heavily and the driveability went down with some of the engine mods. suspension mods all helped though. anyways i dont want to wreck the driveability so are there any suggestions for that?

i would save $$ on the roadmaster suspencion, and put it towards a 2bbl M-1 manifold. not that the roadmaster dostnt work, but you might like the added power of the M-1

just a suggestion.

I have the belltech 2-3 drop with Nitro drop shocks the only real drawback is the ass end is a little stiff. But the handling and cornering are freakin great !!!!! Plus it makes the truck look more stout. The pic in my profile is before I lowered it though.

One thing i think you can knock of your list is the Mopar computor. I got a new 02 myself and was wanting to frim up the shifting points abit but after rading post here and checking out some Mopar parts sites they changed them in 00 and nothing is available that was as good as the Mopar PCM...just my luck

If you want power:

Get the headers, SINGLE 3" exhaust, custom B&G flash (it will firm up your shifting), M1 2bbl, throttle body, and the K&N FIPK. Those are the essentials for making a quick truck into a monster (but don't forget about the little things like plugs, wires, thermostats, etc.). Making these trucks fast is an addiction so you must address that quickly then worry about the stereo and looks of the truck.

There are probably 50 guys on this forum with R/Ts that can't stop trying to make their trucks faster.

Also check out the delphi forum for R/Ts.

I second on the M1, the added performance is very noticable.

I remember reading a post from you under "canadian speedtweaks" or something similiar; you're from Edmonton, aren't you ?

I would look into a 4x4 rather than the R/T, Alberta winters can be quite interesting (eg. Calgary a few days ago ! 45 cm of snow in one day) !

My dad's 4x4 is useful in the winter but I'll just stick some monster tires on with studs in the winter. i can handle a little oversteer sometimes :)

Besides, i might not even need to drive it in the winter too much. ill be in the army so i wont exactly have to go far to get to my work or anything.

From Calgary myself, so you know how changable the weather gets.

I thought I would suggest the 4x4, because that big dump of snow a couple of days ago was pretty rough. Without 4x4, I doubt I would've made it very far.

Otherwise, the R/T is a good choice. I'd definitly go with the M1, Autolites, and a good catback. A cold air intake will help too !

Pat, just drop the rear of the RT with a 1 inch drop block, this will level out the truck and look great, only cost ya 30.00 for blocks.
