Subject: problem with 4.7

I have a 2001 dakota with a 4.7 automatic SLT 2wd, it has close to 120,000 miles and ive been having problems with the motor cutting off when comming to a stop, or bogging down when shifting to another gear like if it was shift to neutral then kicked back to drive. The motor light has not came on. any info would help.

The 4.7 is a coil on plug design; no wires !
I'd suspect a dirty idle air control on the throttle body.

Like Kowalski said, try cleaning the AIT sensor, and the throttle body. I had a little stalling problem a while back. When coming to a stop or turning slow the motor would konk out on me. The rpm's would also fluctate from 300 to 800 at a stop or while coasting at slow speeds.

Nothing flows like a straight pipe

Low tranny fluid will cause a stall when coming to a stop 'cause the torque converter will stay in lock up.
