I just purchased a used 2001 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 4.7L v8
I am unable to shift it into 4wd..
No lights on the 2-4wd switch panel light up.
when i switch from 2-4hi nothing seems to happen, i have tried making a tight turn when i have it set to 4hi and notice that there is no jumping etc. and no change for 4lo so i know it is not going into 4wd.
I have checked the fuse panel and the fuse is OK (i swapped it out with no luck)
any suggestions on what to look for?

Do your wipers still work?
Does the LED on the 4WD switch flash or anything?

yes my wipers are working fine, i do not have any LED's working on the 4WD switch (nothing for 2WD, 4Hi, 4Lo or neutral)
i did check the fuse box and made sure the fuse marked 4X4 is good (swapped it out for a known good fuse).
