It's in the transmission.
Now. If you'll tell us which tranny you have, we will then be able to tell you just where inside the tranny it is.

You left out an important piece of information, Bubba, so I just guessed that you have a 545RFE.

Here's from the FSM:
"The transmission temperature sensor is a thermistor that is integral to the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS)."

The TRS is up inside the tranny around the valve body.

My bad Im told its a 46re, temp sensor not working since i put the trans in ,i was also told there were two different wiring harnesses for these transmissions and that may be the problem

turned out to be the wiring harness there were two different ones made for the same transmission
