Okay, my 3.9 in my '99 is STILL misfiring. I have changed the cap and rotor twice (i checked it after it kept misfiring and it was burned up after 2 months, gd autozone). ALso the plugs, and wires once, and I checked the injectors and they are also OK. I also reset the computer thinking that maybe that was the problem. But it only misfires when it gets to about 130+ degrees. Whet the heII could it be!? Thanks guys

Coolant temp sensor. I had might start going flakey and caused backfiring. Replaced it and backfiring went away. This was in my old 95 3.9L 4x4.

Keep in mind the PCM reads alot of sensors for input on fuel/air delivery.
