 Subject: Cold A/C, then warm, then cold again

Hope someone can help me out here. I recently had the A/C system checked because the air was warm - haven't done anything up until now with 130k on this 98' V8 Dak...
They said it was low on refrigerant and put in a bit over 2 lbs if i remember correctly. The air was COLD!!! but i've now noticed that the air is cold immediately when i turn the a/c on... then it steadily gets warmer till it's purt-near HOT... sometimes it'll get cold again - most assurably, if i turn it off for about 5min then on again it's COLD once again... generally for the duration afterwards...
What's causing this!!!!????

I dunno, but my A/C is being replaced sometime this week or early next, hopefully. I had a low and odd idle along with a kind of vacuum leak sound.
