My stock mechanical fan is so damn loud that if I rev the motor I hear IT over my exhaust (and it's a new 3" high flow cat and dual cat back through turbo mufflers).
If it's moving that much air, it has to be causing some major parasitic drag, which might explain a bit about why my truck is so damn gutless. I am thinking about going to an electric fan, but wanted to see if there's a good bolt in replacement from another vehicle, or if I should just grab a universal with a temp sensor switch and put it in there instead.
Anyone have experience with this?

Get a universal from someone like Flex-a-lite. On a side note, have you checked the stock fan clutch? It may be seizing up some and causing excess fan speed/noise.
