Specs go through 1996, and they were unchanged after that. Suffice it to say, they're lame specs.
Best cam? Depends on your application. What's best changes as you add other mods. Towing or racing, or somewhere in between? Best mileage? Best HP?

The highest lift you can go w/ stock heads is around .540 and the reason for that would be valve to piston clearance. I run the KRC 210X (.512" lift)cam ground for 1.7 rockers. It runs great, and has an awesome idle.

You have to grind the valve guides down to allow for higher lift cams. You will hit the guides before running into piston clearance issues, but the .540 lift # is about as far as you can go.
However, again, what do you consider stock?
Stock valvesprings? .440" lift.
Stock heads with appropriate springs? .540"-ish.
Stock computer? .480-.500"-ish lift, but with tight duration.
It's all in what you're looking to do.

i've already got 1.7 RR's on my 00 R/T. I looked at the KRC 210 X. I'm using a hypertech programmer now, but going up to a MP computer, or a burned chip would not be much of an issue. my real issue is with passing emission testing. Do you have to pass emissions tests where you are? and if so did you?
