The R/T has a 3.92 ratio compared to the 3.55 in the non R/T. Better take-off, worse highway mileage.

That was complete BS. The 5.9 only came in the R/T and some later model quad cab dakotas and the R/T does not have different heads. The R/T came standard with performance suspension, 3.92 LSD, 17X9" rims, and performance exhaust.
