I suspect I have one of those bad ball joint cases I've just read about. CBS has covered the story about a year ago, but is this being recalled by Chrysler?

Yes, it's been recalled. Only the lowers, only 4x4, and only some years.

I thought it was the uppers?
And depending on the year of your truck the ball joint warranty might be extended to 100K. My 03 2wd had the upper balljoint warranty extended to 100K. I think it all depends on your VIN number because they covered partial years, something like 2000 1/2 through 2003 1/2.

my '00 QC 2wd, upper ball joints, are covered under the 10yr/100k warranty. the manufacture date of my truck is 01/00.

Durn shame. My 98' w/less than 80k was "dangerously worn", and Dodge won't stand by them..?
