ok so after i replace the cap do i need to reset the computer or will it just go off on it's own ? the engine light that is thxs

Disconnecting the battery would reset the computer the check engine light should go off. I have also read here on this site about disconnecting the wire harness on the computer closest to the firewall to reset the computer. Hope this solves your problem.

You should try to reset the comp. before spending you money on a new cap. I had the same code - just ended up being I didnt tighten the cap down after re-fueling one time...Code has not tripped since I reset it.

after a few start / stop cycles the light will clear itself. mine did.

gas cap was not tight i removed the - cable for about 2 mins and enigine light has not came back on. thxs guys you are best .. i hope i have no more issues but i know if i do ,i know where to go thxs again brian
