hey all, i was on my way back home today after a night of drinking and noticed my oil pressure was down slightly from normal. i pulled in the driveway and checked the dipstick and there was some oil on it, wiped it off, put it back in pulled it out and nothing, poured in a quart and i was on the lower end of safe, so my question to you all is do any of you have the same problem, if you did how did you cure it, i've thought of using that Restore stuff but don't know if anyone has had any luck. the oil in there is the quaker state synth. Suv and 4x4, thought i'd give it a try with winter here in ohio. happy new year to ya all, and thanks

I have a 99 4x4 with the 5.2 in it. When I get close to my oil change time I seem to lose a little but nothing like yours. When was the last time you checked the oil before this happened. Did you do any towing with the truck or 4wheelin in the snow anything that might be hard on the motor? What's the milage on it and did you buy it new? If you bought it used and you have high miles on it something may have let go. Start simple, powerwash the motor and check for leaks,if that doesn't turn up anything try a compression test. Depending on what that tells you, check your exaust pipe for dark oily smug on the tip. There are alot of things to consider, just remember the kiss-- (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID) Start off with the easy stuff first before you start a taredown. P.S. your not stupid that's just an old saying one of my old bosses always used. Take your time and find the trouble,DON'T guess. Good luck.

it's a 97 5.2 4x4 with just over 90,000 miles and i did buy it used, the engine area is fairly clean, very little gunk around the engine, a little dusty and what not. i did find a valve cover bolt snapped off but other than that everything looks good. don't smell oil coming out of the exhaust or any oil smug on the tip.

I'm betting on the intake pan gasket unless you have a visible leak that's leaving a puddle when parked > Not near enough miles to be rings >

So many problems > So little time

With all that's been written, get yourself some sheets of card Board and put it under the truck when you park it. If there are any leaks, it will be easy to see on the Card Board, and you will be able to tell what area the leak is. One question, Do you change your own oil or have it changed at, say, Walmart. Reason I ask is I once had the oil changed on my old Chrysler by Walmart, and they left 3/4th of a bottle of oil in my car. A week later, I checked it and found it to be almost a quart low. When they change the oil and filter, they change the filter, then put in 4 quarts, start the engine, look for leaks then shut it off. The length of time they have it running isn't long enough to fill up the filter, so when they check the oil the next time, it's only 1/4th or so low, so they top it off. Does this sound familiar to you?

No, that's the exact reason why i change my own and don't let someone else do it. before i put the filter on i always dump some oil into the filter, not all the way b/c the filter is in a terrible spot. no visible puddles, i've parked in the same spot of the driveway all the time and no oil on the ground.

thanks for everything so far guys, keep them coming. i'll take all the help i can get

You never said what kind of driving you were doing before this started. If you were driving hard and you checked everything else then I'd say oil is being burned. I wouldn't add any restore stuff to the motor, had a friend use it once and it did bad things to the motor(cloged oil passages and burn't his motor). They do sell a die that you add to the oil, after normal running you check for leaks with a ultra-violet light. Stuff workes great for finding hard to spot leaks. Can be bought at most auto parts stores. As I said before take your time and find the trouble before you start turning tools
