Yesterday I was driving and decided to use the cruise (rare). Well I had some problems getting it to take as it was dark and I had to watch where I was going. Anyway after I got it on I tried to accelerate with it. Eventually it did but seemed strange.

Shortly after this I noticed my Check Engine light was on. I have since turned it off numerous times and it remains on. The truck appears to be running fine.

So is there any way to get a code off of it without any special equipment or taking it in? I had a S-10 years ago and that had a trick with turning the key on/off a couple times and it would then give a blinking sequence which told you the code and it would reset the system. I was hoping there is something like this for the Dakota too.

If not is there any way to clear the light to see if it was a one time deal. If it was due to the cruise then I would prefer the light off.

Thanks
Clint

Well I found this link:

Which linked to another which said how to do this. Thanks to a search tip I learned from another person.
