I have a 1997 Dakota V6 4X4, I love the truck but does not have crap for power, should I put a v8 in it or sell it and buy a v8 truck.

Your best bet is to buy a v-8 truck. The only way the motor swap is worth it money wise is if you alerady have the engine and computer. Even then, unless you have the shop to do it, you will just be wasting alot of time.

I agree with buying a V8 truck > Actually it takes care of the headaches included with the change > Now think on this > You love your truck > Selling and buying a V8 truck is the same truck > No change in style onless you buy new 2005 > You get what you want totaly and will still love your truck but much more > More power to ya

If yer gonna get an '05 or '06, check out the Mitsubishi version of the Dakota. It's called Raider, or something like that. You probably can't get the HO V-8 from them, but Oh! The Warranty!
It's built in Warren, Michigan. Probably in the same plant as the Dak.

Didn't Dodge have an SUV type vehicle in the late 80's called a Raider? I remember test driving one in Las Vegas. It had something like a hydraulic suspension driver's seat. It wasn't really big in size, something like the jeep liberty.
Anyone remember? I didn't google it, but I guess I should have.
