I just orderd a procharger with air to air inner cooler. i got i new for 3900 with shipping. is that a good deal because that was the best price i could find. also after reading about the charger im supprised that they are not all that popular. dont have to change any motor internals and the motor timming runns a the stock setting. ill post some pics when i get it in and of me puitting it on. My consern is my warrenty. i know that the warrenty will be void but if i have any major problems with motor and i take the charger off and back to stock will the shop be able to tell if the charger was on before?

I dont think they will but it might be real time consuming to do so.

The reason the ATI model isn't as popular is because the intercooler mounting location is very poor and for about the same price the Paxton unit produces more cfm and has more tuning options. Almost all of the fastest R/T's are running the Paxton Novi 2000.

There are lost of parts to remove and change to make the dealer un aware of the changes you made. If you are gonna spend all that time, you may as well make the repairs yourself.

I dont know too much about the paxton, but the procharger gave me 282 RWH and 350 Ft.lbs. With a 4x4 drivetrain loss, thats about 360 engine horse and almost 500 ft. lbs. from the stock 220/300

Crow318, do you have an intercooler and what kind of mods are done to the truck?

What about tunning?

The kit came with an intercooler. I don't like where they put it. I am working on a design for a frontmount.

The only tuning I have is a digital FMU that also came with the kit. I tuned it on the dyno.

As for mods. All I've got is an aftermarket Cat that is basically a hollow shell with a screen at each end, and a custom 3" catback with a Delta series flowmaster. I also have an electric fan to replace the belt driven one.

I had a Hypertech that worked great N/A but had way too much timing for boost.

The procharger kit claims 8-9psi. I was running 7psi at the end of the pulls (4700). Based on the graph I would need 5050 for 8psi and 5450 for 9psi

is the kit worth what i purchased it for? i thought it was a good deal. so it will only put out about 7psi? or is that what you have it set at? crow318 also what size motor did you put the charger on?

I'm not sure if thats a good price, but thats what I paid.

The boost level is not adjustable. They advertise 8-9 psi. And without a doubt there is at least 8 psi right out of the blower. But there is loss through the intercooler and then again through the throttle body. A well designed intercooler will loose 1 psi or less. The procharger design for the 4x4 is horrible. I would guess I have at least a 1.5 psi loss. As for the throttle body, just look at it. You send all this air through 3" tubing and then try and send it through 2 small openings.

I have a '97 5.2L

The kit is sent for a stock motor. The free flowing exhaust I have decreases the boost level a little. Things like belt slip also come into play. My friend has a Silverado S.S. and he ended up getiing a custom cut pully from procharger to help with the slipping he had. He had a relatively small pully and therefore not much surface area.

Do the install. Set things to where procharger says. Then bring it to a dyno and tune the FMU. To me, the fact that the performance gains they claimed were right on target was much more important than the boost I measured in the manifold.

Most dyno's have a multitude of sensors. I had most of them hooked up.

I used the Wideband o2 sensor readings to adjust the FMU. I would make a slight change and then make another dyno run.

The settings that ATI sent me gave a very good starting point. Steady at about 10.8 A/F
I adjusted a little fuel out for about 13.1 at 3psi to 12.5 at 7psi

I didn't show noticable gains in power, but I did gain a little torque and it moved the torque curve a little lower in the RMP range, which is good.

I would think the kit for the 5.9 is the exact same as the one I got. If your crank pully is the same size as mine, you will probably get a slightly smaller pully to run the same boost levels. You will be pleased.

As for the throttle body, thats up to you. My next investment is gonna be to change the intercooler. Yours will be better than mine because its not 4x4. If you have the mondy, good things too look at to keep you running strong are larger injectors, larger throttle body and an ignition that will pull timing under boost.
