1995 318 going into the truck
mine 3.9 premag is going out the door, but the rest of the truck is good, and ive stuck enough money inot accessories that im keeping it, becauxe they wont fit a 91+
and my little brother rolled his 95 dakota crushing the fenders, doors, and cab
so im basicly taking 2 bad trucks and making one good truck, for under $500
cant complain about that, ill be betting a 1990 318 with about 235-240 hp after a few mods ill be needing to do (electric fan, headers, exhaust, and prolly some underdrive pullies because a few got bent in the roll anyway) with power windows, power door locks, cruise control, and a few other little goddies i stole from the 95 for cheap. but, the engine runs and it drives, we had it running and driving around after it got dropped off at my house
so this is a pet project of mine
i agree the 3.9 premag is a pile, so i bought myself a 2001 5.9 Ram 1500 for a good reliable truck, and im building myself a play toy out of the dakota, i have the dash board and stearing column swapped out, and i have the egine, tranny, T-Case, all electrical puleld out of the wrecked 95 already, working opn putting the 90 together, jsut need to put in the engine, tranny, t-case, electrical, and gas tank
another mpnth or so, i hope....

btw, if your not going to offer advise on the topic at hand, please refrain from posting

and jsut out of curiosity i checked with a dodge dealer, getting a fan for a shelby dakota is out of the question, disconinued and no other dealer has any
not that i would have gotten one there anyway, prolly would have cost more than the truck is worth

if gen1dak reads this if i remember right you put in a smaller radiator that sat farther up in the grill and jsut ran the stock engine fan right? id rather run an electric but i thought of that too

i also thought of afro engineering the fron ent a bit, moving the conensor forward and moveing the radiator back a touch, and see waht i end up with for room
how much room is between the engine and radiator on your shelby stock if you happen to remember

id really like to use an electric, jsut for the little bit extra HP

Spal makes some thin fans that work well. You can also replace your GenI front clip with a GenII. Sounds like your brothers truck won't help out in that regard, but you might be able to get some stuff out of it.

I've been looking to do the same thing on my 99 Dak. Advance Auto has 3 different fans and one is less than 2 inches wide. All the fans are less than $80, but it costs an additional $20 for the temp sensor.

A lot have said to use the Flex-A-Lite Blackmagic but I tried it in my '93 and it is 1/4" too fat to fit between the radiator and the engine.

Just my $0.02

im going between the radiator and condensor
so i have even less room, because im not sure but there will only be like an inch of space between the radiator and engine
1990+5.2=room? hah, yeah right

i would recommend the 91-96 front end. your gonna have a really hard time getting that done without it.

It can be done, you just have to find the right fan, and it will be working as a pusher. The Shelby Daks did it. If you can get the dimensions of the Shelby fan depth wise, that will help. Personally I think Spal may be your best choice. You are far more limited with what you can put in there than a 91+ truck.

i know, and i know it can be done, i have about 1 1/2 inches between the radiator and engine
but i will have to see when i get the engine in there, hopefully sat.
i got the waterpump and headers bolted on today
ill figure the fan out
or i could go offroad style, mount it to the roof :)
