Does anyone have dyno #'s showing a gain in horsepower/torque for a cat-back exhaust on the 4.7 w/out any other mods? I want a throatier exhaust note but don't want to give up power which I heard has been happening on the 4.7 exhaust upgrades.
P.S. exhaust-intake-pcm flashes dyno #'s don't help, impossible to tell if one, two, or all parts contributing to power increase.

Most cat back exhaust upgrades will show a loss in torque. The improvement will be in horsepower on the upper RPM band.

it all depends if you don't have enough backpressure or to much. you need some backpressure after your cat's, to prevent cat problems and bastard O2sensor signals.

The problem with the 4.7s is the stock cat it is to restrictive. Get a high flow one.

So how would adding a Cat-back system cause loss of low end torque (too little back pressure) if the cat is to restrictive (to much back pressure)???

Doesn't make any sense.

Who makes a catback exhaust for the 4.7? I have a 2001 motorsport edition r/c dakota and i can not find anyone that makes a system for it. Everything i found was for a 318 or 360 dakota.

I dyno'd my truck w/only a Flow.2 chamber catback. Single in / dual out (straight out the back) I believe everything is the same size pipe as stock coming into it.
The dyno showed a little of 200HP at the rear wheels,,,,which from what I've seen/heard is better than stock. (It's been a few months since I dyno'd the truck,,,I'm fuzzy on the exact numbers),,but I know for sure I didn't lose any power.

I put a Flowmaster 40 series on and took out the third convertor, and put a custom turndown on the muffler.

I think it was a better thing than replacing the while pipe, I don't want to lose torque.

BTW: does anyone else have major traction problems? When I floor it at a dead stop I lay a patch 50-80 feet long, No exadaration.

Okay, after searching the site for some time it appears to me that the gibson single swept side and the mbrp exhausts are making the most power gain for the 4.7 liter engine. Does anyone have dyno #s for these two on a 4.7 or have any first hand knowledge about which of the two make the most power?
