hello sirs. I have recently purchased a 04 dakota with a 4.7 V-8 with the 285. My only mods now are an Airraid intake with throttle body spacer, Magnaflow dual exhaust cat-back system, and removed the rubber flap after reading sugg. from other people. What kind of performance gains and/or gas mileage gains can I expect? I don't intend on beating my truck, just hauling ass on the open road. Also, any suggestions on improving gas mileage? Thank you for your time.

just a point...If you intend on hauling ass on open roads, improvements in gas mileage won't even be of concern. If you plan on driving fast, nothing else you can do will get you better gas mileage.

I know that speed will burn gas more, but I was just curious on improving gas mileage in general. I bought one of the tonneau bed covers which as far as I can tell hasn't improved on drag reduction or mileage

eh I have a similar mods. what are you talking about removing the rubber flap. do you have true duals or single in dual out. I think its a good combination I don't think the spacer does anything but I'm not getting rid of it. Ive never really pd attention to my mpg the truck feels peppier and sounds better but I don't think my mpg really changed.

03 4.7 4x4sportplus cc auto with airair intake tbspacer, dynomax ultraflow single in dual out, hard tonneau cover.

love the truck baby!!

it's dual in dual out...i've heard the spacer is primarily used for heavy duty trucks or trucks that tow alot. I was just looking to get better performance....this is the best vehicle i have ever owned and am looking to keep it for a while. any suggestions on what oil to use? i know it says 5 w 30 but i've heard using 10w is better

Usually engines that specify 5w30 are built to tighter tolerances - like the 4.7. I run 5w30 synthetic, no benefit to 10 weight in a tight engine designed for 5.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

I have a 02 q cab, 5.9 4x4 lifted, 33's, airraid cai, spacer, superchip micro tuner, single in/dual out...dumped,and other stuff.
Anyway.....figure that all this stuff might have got me an extra....mabey, and I say mabey.... 20-25 rwhp.
The truck is quicker, though not to much.
When it was stock the truck got 14 mpg or so, now....10-11 if I drive nice.
Unfortunitely, I drive it like ,,,, fun, fun, fun,9 mpg here I come.
Honestly you should consider a supercharger.
I know it is alot of $$$$$$.
Like I said, I have done most of what can be done without going inside the motor and the gains are somewhat smallish for the $$.

This is just my two cents worth...
