I HAVE A 2003 QUAD CAB, 4X4, 4.7 L DAKOTA

I'VE HAD IT ABOUT 2 OR 3 WEEKS. THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE THAT SEEMS TO COME FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WHEN BRAKING LIGHTLY. IT DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME THOUGH. DOESN'T SEEM TO DO IT AT ALL WHEN PRESSING FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE.
THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE DONE WHEN THE SAFETY WAS COMPLETED. IS IT SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT OR ARE THE CALIPERS NOT SET RIGHT!? OTHER THAN THAT I LOVE THE TRUCK. ANY IDEAS??

Is the noise related to road speed? Meaning it speeds up and slows down relative to the speed you are going. I would take it back to whoever did the brakes and have them fix their mistake. If that's not an option (or the case), pull the wheels and inspect the brakes for anything that might cause the clicking noise you hear. I would pay particular attention to the caliper area. Maybe something is clicking off of the rotor vents went the caliper is squeezed. They also might have put pad silencers in and one may have gotten outta place. Take a look, I'm sure you'll find something.

NOT RELATED TO SPEEDS. I THOUGHT ORIGINALLY IT WAS A STONE IN THE TIRE, BUT IT HASN'T GONE AWAY IN 2 1/2 WEEKS AND IT ISN'T A CONSTANT NOISE, JUST WHILE BREAKING LIGHTLY JUST BEFORE GETTING STOPPED. IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL LATE NOV. SO I THINK I WILL LET THEM DEAL WITH IT. NOW I JUST HAVE TO FIND TIME TO TAKE IT IN. mY DAD HAD MENTIONED THE CALIPERS AS WELL.
tHANKS FOR THE HELP!!

Check the ABS controller unit at the front left wheel well. If you
disconnect it, does the noise stop when braking (ABS light will come
on, of course)? This would indicate a problem with the controller.
My 2003 Dakota, 4.7L, quad cab has done this since day one (new).
I sure would like to know the fix: it's annoying as it can be.
