Well did a little test this weekend. Left Albuquerque with a full tank on my way to Needles, CA. I know I can make it to Kingman, AZ on a tank of gas. After restroom breaks for my kids and such things as that, I totalled 483 miles once I got to Kingman. Filled up with a little over 23 gallons of the ol' liquid gold. Then drove to Needles stayed about an hour and heading back. Here is where the test comes in. Normally I would have stopped in Kingman to top off, but I wanted to see how far I could really go on a tank of gas. So I set the cruise at 80 and sat back and enjoyed the satillite radio for the next few hours. Once the needle hit the red mark for empty I dropped the speed down to 65 and waited to see how long it would be before the spurting started. Also when the needle hit the red mark I was at 450 miles. So there I sit waiting, and nothing is happening. Then the needle starts to move past the red mark into the "E". I hit 518.7 miles when the engine finally kicks off. So now I have a pretty good idea how far I can push it on trips. But here is something funny to think about. I have five gallons of gas with me. I pour the contents into the tank and head East up the road another 7 miles to Grants, NM, where I fill up at the Pilot station with a total of 24 gallons. Now my question is this, I had just put 5 gallons in the tank, and drove only 7 miles, but was still able to put 24 gallons in at the pump, do the math and get back to me with a good answer? Either the pumps aren't calibrated properly OR Dodge is full of it when they tell me my QC has a 24 gallon tank. How can a 24 gallon tank including the fill tube hold almost 29 gallons of fuel? Other than the numbers game, I was getting 21 mph on the way out to CA, and that was running 80-85. Also info on the truck. 04 QC 4.7 Auto drop-in K and N, AMSOIL 10W-30, AMSOIL rear diff, stock exhaust except for a "cherry bomb" and started out with just over 36K miles, oh and a bed cover, with all tires at 32 psi (cold). Just thought I would share is all. Hope everyone had an enjoyable Labor Day weekend, now get your butts back to work, slackers!!!

It's probably designed for 24...but you can shove more into it. Better watch you don't fill up your vapor canister. Actually, you probably already did.
