it is not a single overhead cam. i have an 01 dakota with the 4.7L 287 cu.in and it is a dual overhead cam. and get this the 4.7L 287 dodge v8 magnum is also the early remake of the 5.7L dodge HEMI! v8 magnum. thats right i said hemi. it is an engine also known as the SEMI HEMI. the semi hemi is also a clasic muscle engine that dodge had back in the 60s and 70s.

its pretty cool to read about things that you like and find out its even more cool than you thought. the 4.7L 287 magnum thats in my 01 dodge dakota sport 4x4 gets the truck moving from 0-60 MPH in under 6 second. i have timed it about 6 times now. and other than a K&N air filter, ROYAL PURPLE motor oil, and ROYAL PURPLE gear oil. its a stock truck and it KICKS ASS! so after its all said and done. you can say... yha. its a HEMI!!! a SEMI HEMI.

i recently bought a 01 dakota quad cab and looked up the specs on the
engine. the intake says magnum. the sticker says 4.7. its got dual
overhead cams. according to internet this engine didnt come out til
2008. so why is it in my 01 and why does it say magnum when its a
semi hemi? just sayin.
