Subject: Self Installation Catback

Message:
I have a 2000 4.7 CC 4X4 with everything stock with the exception of 32" Goodyear MTR tires. I have been researching a catback exhaust and have settled on a Magnaflow system. The local exhaust shop wants $572 for the system and installation. I have found it all over the internet for $399 and on Ebay for even less. I'm pretty much a do-it-yourselfer and would like to install it myself and save about $200. My only concern is how difficult is it going to be to get the factory system off after 5 years of corrosion? I don't have torches available so my only options are trying to unbolt it and where that is not possible, cutting it with a sawsall. Before I order the system I thought I would ask for opinions and suggestions. Thanks.

dennis,
not difficult at all. all you need is some
wd40 to spray on the rubber hangers to help slip
off the exhaust and then use a sawsall to cut
the pipe and then drop the new one in.
ITS CAKE!

Just whack it off with a sawzall. Trying to unbolt everything is a pointelss waste of time. The muffler shop would do the same.

Once I get the old one off, is there anything I need to be aware of when I put the new one on?
