Message:
I just put a 2004 4.7L in my 2001 Dakota, which was also a 4.7l. I changed the tone wheel on the crank to a 2001, used the 2001 throttle body and cam position sensor. It turns over but will not start. acts like the timing is off. Does not throw any fault codes. Any ideas? Do I have to change the crank position sensor, to a 2001 vintage? Thanks for any help.

I think that you actually changed the "crank position sensor," instead of the tone wheel. My understanding is that the "tone wheel" is located on the camshaft and the sixteen (16) and the thirty-two (32) toothed "tone wheel" engines are not compatible, as far as the computer module, not the sensor. Result is, they won't start/run.
