Subject: Crankcase Breather Type

I was thinking about doing away with the tube from my air hat & just getting a crankcase filter, but there are 2 different styles...One looks like an open element K&N filter & the other is in a chrome housing that has the intake ports at the bottom of it. What is the differance between them & which should I get?

There is really no difference. One has a heat shield on it, the other doesn't. I think the shield is more for looks than anything eles. The important thing is to make sure it fits and seals into the grommet. Some are loose and allow for oil seepage.
