Hello all my unfortunate Dodge Dakota owners. I recently purchased a Dodge Dakota quad cab 4x4 slt with the 4.7 ltr. V8. The absolute most expensive piece of s#!t I have yet to buy in my life. I dumped more money into that truck in the 8 months that I have had it, than I have ever dumped into any other vehicle I have ever owned. I traded a '95.5 4X4 Toyota Tacoma for this thing. What a dumb move. I am selling my Dodge and just picked up a '96 Tacoma, and had a big sigh of relief. Only problem is I can't get anyone to buy this piece of s#!t Dakota. Do yourselves all a favor. Get a TACOMA. If you off road a lot, the Tacoma blows the doors off your Dodge. And if you want to haul something, Tacomas come with a V6 that has very comparable numbers to the 4.7.
I guarantee once you have owned a Tacoma or a Tundra, you will realize how much better these things are built, and how much longer they last and hold their resale value. That might be parcially due to the fact that most of your Dodges are made in Mexico or Canada in non-union factories that don't benifit our economy, while Tacomas are assembled in Fremont California in a factory that DOES benifit our economy. In closeing I bid farewell to you all at this forum and when you wise up, I will see you at www.tacomaterritory.com!

Last time I checked this was a DAKOTA forum. Also, Just because they are made in the USA doesn't mean the money goes here. A portion of every sale goes to toyota motor corporation, JAPAN-Don't give me the BS of Dakotas not made in USA- They are made in Warren, MI (AKA Dodge City)Says on the inside of my door on my '98. Only SOME Rams are made in mexico.

i am a proud dakota owner as well but, ive heard many cases like his. and no. the pussy azz v6 in the tacoma doesnt compete. the torque band isnt anywhere near as good as a v8's is. anyhow, some dodges last along time. but ive heard many cases like his where you haveto fix them all the time. so far im feeling lucky. my 93 5.2 cc 4x4 runs like brand new. the only thing that pisses me off, is it has 3.55 gears.

My '88 Dak SE has 190,000 and still going strong! Anytime you want to test your theory, come on up to Washington and I'll show you how much better a Dak 'wheel's than your Toyota. A friend I wheel with did a trip with a work buddy who has a Tacoma with 31's, TRD off road package, rear locker and he said my STOCK '88 with 235-75 15's and open diff's did way better on the trail!

the only truck uglier than the new Dakota is the new TACOMA. I can't believe people pay $25K-$30K for that rice.

I had a Taiyota back in 93 and NEVER again. I prefer power and performance over those rubberband engines.

A few years ago my Dad bought a v6 Tacoma 4x4 and I had just bought my 3.9 Dak. We went to where the ATVs ride. We were facing a dirt hill that was about 45 degrees, he put it in 4 low, started the climb about half way up he lost traction and had to roll back down. I went with my 2WD and made it up no problem. He was so embarassed he sold it the next week and bought a 4x4 Ram.

Taco V6 having comperable power??? yeah right.
Toyota= OVER RATED V6
Dodge=UNDER RATED V8

I've got off road videos to show where MY Dakota has come and gone. Got any of them pussy Taco's?

Also. While being out off roading I've yet to see a Taco even be able to pull another truck out of the mud. They SUCK.

I watched one try to pull a SMALLER size JEEP out of some mud. The Taco just hopped around like it was a punk a$$ kid throwing a temper tantrum. Moaning from it's under powered V6 and going into convulsions from trying to pull something out of equal weight.

I barely have to TOUCH the throttle in my V8 to pull anything and I've got a strong drive train to do it to.

The only truck i had real trouble pulling out, and gave up on, was a 2500 RAM Cummins stuck in the mud BAD. The chain broke and went through his wind shield. That too is on my web.

THIS truck...

Yeah. My truck has seen some mud.

Got more pics and videos if you click on my signature...
