I have a 97 4x4 5.2L and first and second gear seem to be really long. ( takes off almost like a diesel or like it pully a large load) I was wondering if this is normal. I haven't had the truck that long or drove any others to compare. could it be the gears that are in it or what????????

Thanks

I had both a 2002 Ram and now 2004 Dak, each with a 4.7 5 spd auto. Both rigs roar from the start when cold, upshifting slowly. A lighter foot on the throttle helps a bit.

Absolutely normal Brad, just ask any Dodge dealership mechanic. (j/k)
