Hey yall

I just blew my v6 last week and am swapping in a 318 in the next couple weeks. I have done an exhaustive search on here and other internet sites to get hints on the swap.
Looks to be fairly easy, but I am only a self taught mechanic.

Looks like I can keep my own wiring harness, use the new 318 computer, add 2 injector plugs to the harness and pins in the computer harness. other than that, v8 torsion bars and a new exhaust are about it.
Are there any other people here who can tell me some pointers or hints which will help in my quest? Even just a good site to use as a reference (other than this one :) .

I also plan to bore it .30 over and have it checked over well. Should I cam it? Any other low cost pointers for the swap?

Thank you all for any input. I have been waiting to do this swap forever, guess now I have to since it is my daily driver!

Also what torque converter do I use 6 or 8? it is an auto, so also, same flexplate? I am using the v6 tranny for now, will swap in the future, when $$$ allows.

If using MPI, you must use the 318 flexplate so the sensor will read properly for 8 cylinders (8 "windows" vs 6 on the V6). The V6 converter will work fine with the 318 (they are both zero-balance). If you're going carb, the V6 flexplate will work as well.

youve got it down man. i swapped a 360 bored 20 over in my 93 with a stick and 4wd.stock tranny and rear end. it is sick. i also swapped in 24lb injectors from accel. might need to do a fuel pump to keep up with demands at 4500 and above in 4th but it goes like a scolded dog
