Subject: PCV Valve

I have been having trouble with idling speed on my 318 Magnum. I have found the PCV valve, on the passanger side valvecover. It is a combination of a ball and a spring. When shaken, it rattles instead of being silent. Is it normal for the ball to rattle loose inside the plastic cover? Isn't this a possible reason for high idling speed, since the vacuum hose that leads to the air filter housing sucks at high pressure, instead of the normal pressure. Since this is controlled by the PCV valve, i find this the reason for the high idling RPM.

The rattle is fine its a check valve..keeps gasses from blowing back into the block during a intake backfire.... check the bellypan gasket... TB gasket .. and all other hoses ...

The PCV valve should rattle, if it were silent then you'd have a bad valve. Have you cleaned your throttle body including the IAC motor pintle and port? Also if you have a meter, check the TPS voltage at idle.
