I am hoping to upgrade the Ignition on my 97 dak sport. I have installed new Autolite platinum plugs and new MSD Super Conductor 8.5mm wires. I am looking to upgrade for street applications. any ideas whats good? I would like to stick to MSD, but if there is anything that comes more recommended, I could change that!

I have the Accel 300+ didital ignition system in my truck. In a shootout they did in Hot rod magazine a few years ago it was rated in the top of the heap.(They all do the same thing)(Multiple spark). But the nice thing about the accel is that it plugs into the factory harness with no cutting, and with a 275+ upgrade(I think)external controller , has provisions for boost/nitrous retard.Oh yeah it's also nice and compact.

MSD stands for Multiple Spark Discharge. When you go to the web sites you'll see that they advertise a multiple spark up to around 2,500-3,000 rpm's. That can sometimes improve combustion at low rpms, improve cold weather starts, and smooth the idle out a little.

On an essentially stock engine, you won't make any additional power. But it may run a little smoother.

Like Riv said, Accel is top drawer. Crane is also very good, I have one on my Cobra project. MSD has been the industry standard for years, and you have to pay for that. For most street performance vehicles, any one of the name brands will work as well as another. Get the one that's on sale.
