Probably the same problem I'm having with my 2001 4x4 dakota - front end bushings. My problem is with the sway bar bushings.

Browse around the forum with a "bushings" search and you'll find out a lot more.

It's probably the sway bars...I had mine replaced on my 02 and they are sqeaking again...I took it to a different dealer and they told me that the current bushings were installed incorrectly...apparently the mechanic did not clean the metal and apply a special DuPont grease to prevent further sqeaking...I'm waiting for new bushings to come in for the problem to be corrected.

I just crawl under and spray silicon lubricant in the bushings every Sunday morning. Takes about 10 seconds and sometimes I get to skip a week if it doesn't rain.

Just fixed mine this weekend. Had to remove the sway bar and use wire brush grinder + 80 grit sandpaper to clean the bar where the inside bushings were - they were corroded with built-up rust and what looked like melted rubber from the bushings. Also wire-brushed the spots where the outside bushings sit - the paint had worn off at these sites and it was down to bare metal.

After applying belt dressing to the inside spots, I replaced the inside bushings with rubber ones I bought at the local auto parts store. Then I replaced the outside ones with poly urethane bushings I bought from a dodge dealer (the outside ones came greased up from the dealer). They were all relatively inexpensive.

Sounds like a pain, but the whole deal took an hour at most. We'll see how long they go without squeaking now (it's only been a day).
