Does anyone have a new 4.7 high output engine in there dakota? I just ordered a new 2005 Dakota to be built with the 4.7L high output motor, and trading in my 2000 dakota witha 5.9L 360. how disapointed will I be in comparison of power?

some people say the 5.9 is noticably better. however, i would perfer to build up te 4.7, because the 5.9 doesnt really have much more power, and it sucks a sh!t load of gas.

the new 2005 4.7L HO is not as good as the older Jeep 4.7L HO, for some reason, the HP is the same in both, but the torque? the new one only has 310 Lbs of Tq, and the old one, has 335 ft lbs of Tq, I have no clue why they toned it down.

in my truck, I have the Jeep 4.7L HO Cams, I I think ,when I get a New Dak, I will wait till they put a 5.7L HEMI, or possibly have a SHO 4.7L with about 285 - 300 HP, and 345 - 360 Lbs of Tq.

That is just me though,

but really, I would probably fix up a 4.7 rather than a 5.9, even though there are more parts for the 5.9. the HO can rev out more, and is really good for a 2WD truck, (I would rather have a fair bit of low - end in a 4WD). IT seems that these vehicle companys want fast pickups rather than torquey Mountain Climbing machines.

I'd rather have a torquey motor that redlines at 3500rpms (Diesel), than I would 6000rpms ( HO V8), and i want something that gets its Top End Torque at 1400 rpms (just above Idle) (Cummins HO)

My Dak

2001 Dakota CC 4x4 5-speed HD 3.55 4.7L

Gibson Headers

Flowmaster 40 Single dual out

Mopar Jeep HO cams

K&N FIPK II

F/B 70mm Ported TB

ASP Underdrive Pulley and Superchips Tuner on the way, I am too poor to afford new gears. Wish I had a 2WD.
