Message:

Just wanted to get some responses about what you guys are idling at when at a stop. When my Dak is warm (30+min of driving) and I come to a stop the RPM's are at abit below 500 and it sounds a bit chuggy...When its cold its about 750 but as it gets warmer it drops as mentioned above. I have an 01,CC, 2x4, 4.7L Auto, 3:55, 2.5" Dual Stainless with Magnaflow and a K&N FIPK. Full tune up and new fuel filter done in January of 05 and fresh oil as of last week. What are you guys revving at when warm at a stop?

thanks,

I have a '02 QC 4.7. It does the exact same thing. I've been told to check the TPS voltage a maybe doe the TPS modification described in many forums on this website. Doe a search for TPS Mods. I havent tryed it yet though.

skinner I have the same issue. In the winter 650 all day. When it gets to 60*,500(750 with AC or defrosters on). Even took it to the dealer and duplicated the problem, they said DC is aware of it but no flash yet. Someone posted here that when they run the Super Chips performance program it brings the idle back up.
As for as the TPS I doubt that will fix it. More of an IAT thing IMHO,it seems when the PCM sees higher temps and leans the mixture the idle drops.

If it's like mine was, the idle would go low when in D(rive), warmed up, following a stop. If you blip the throttle, or put in N, then back in D, the idle returns to normal and stays there,,, until the next stop.

I tried the TB cleaning thing, then, as mentioned, installed the Superchips programs. Low idle would go away with _any_ of the SC programs.

I also ran a test where I warmed up the truck, went back to stock program, checked idle (it would go low as before), then re-installed the 87 octane program, warmed it up, and checked the idle (it was fine).

I came to the conclusion that it was in the programming since any of the SC programs made the problem go away.

Interesting. Im not very mechanical, so is this something I can do or do I need to goto a dealer to get the"program" changed? What does all this mean and how involved is it?

I gave up trying to get it fixed, I lived with it. But if you buy a Superchips tuner and install one of it's programs, I would expect to see your problem go away.

I have no expectations that the dealer can, or would, fix it.

any code?
