i Have a 93 4x4 while driving my speedomer started bouncing around and transmission won't shift into high was told speed sensor is this something i could change myself any information would be helpfull

my speed sensor broke on my 93 at about 75K miles. sympton....It dropped out of overdrive and the torque converter didn't lockup anymore, so I had to drive home at higher rpm's from Missouri. Didn't affect the speed o meter, its still a cable, you know, from the tranny to the speed-o-meter, unless the whole assembly came out and was dangling out of your transmission or the little palstic gear is stripped inside. That sensor was easy to replace for me. I'f your speed o meter is acting weird, I'd think it was more than just the sensor.
