Subject: LOW IDLE WITH A/C OFF
IP: Logged

Message:
I HAVE A 2000 WITH THE 4.7 AND IT IDLES ABOUT 500 RPM'S AND SURGES WHEN I HAVE THE A/C OFF AND ITS IN GEAR BUT WHEN I TURN THE A/C ON I GOES BACK TO NORMAL 750 OR SO RPM'S. I CLEANED ALL THE SENSORS ON THE THROTTLE BODY AND PUT NEW PLUGS IN. ONLY THING I HAVENT DONE IS CHANGE THE O2 SENSORS. I WAS THINKING IT MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CONDENSOR BUT I WAS HOPING MAYBE SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE SOME INFO THAT MIGHT HELP. THANKS

Not sure what you mean when you say you cleaned all the sensors on the TB. Only sensor on my '00 4.7 TB is the TPS. Did you take the TB off to clean the IAC ? Also did you clean the TB itself ? You could turn your caps lock off too, people don't like SHOUTING.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

wasn't shouting i am a drafter and we always leave the caps lock on sorry. but anyways yes i cleaned the TB and removed the IAC and cleaned it realy not much to clean on the TPS. i was thinking if the a/c condensor was going bad or the clutch plate on it was going bad that might cause the low idle with the a/c off. anyone know anything about this sort of problem

as far as I know, most 4.7s idle low with the ac/defrost off.. the surging.. that might be caused by a bad T.P.S sensor..

Mine idles around 500 or so (ac or defrost off), and won't hardly move in gear unless I give it gas... I have just learned to live with it, but I've heard that there is a PCM update to fix it... I'm hardly ever in a mode without the ac/defrost off, so it's not much of a problem for me...

HEY THANKS FOR THE INFO I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. WELL I GUESS I HAVE TO EITHER LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT OR JUST KEEP IT IN A/C DEFROST MODE. I KNEW THE TPS PROBABLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SO I WILL GO AHEAD AND DO THAT. THANKS AGAIN

I would agree withe the tps not being quite what it should be. I know mines on the way out and that is one of the symtoms, it occasianlly idles really low(500) thats on a 2001 4.7.

I fixed mine with the FMS injectors. She runs about dead on 700 all day long.
