Hi everyone!
By the way, I'm writing from Iraq, and trying to help my cousin as he attempts to fix my truck before I get home. It's a '93, auto, 4x4, ext cab. By the way, I asked him to work on it because it's mpg have dropped from the mid-teens to 10! And it takes off from a stop as if it were trying to pull a house.
He occasionally gets something like 20 "codes" simultaneousy, that are all wrong: like saying the vehicle is moving when it's parked, saying the "check engine light" is on when it's not, etc. Plus, he believes that it never goes into "closed loop" So, it seems like the computer needs to be replaced, and he thinks only a dealer can do the "programming".
Do I have any other options? Aftermarket computer? I'm not against a "high performance" one, but mostly just want the truck to run like it used to- without spending more money than I need to.
I look forward to any and all replies. Thanks.
Ben

The Mopar high performance computer is about 250 dollars from jegs last year. It also came with a rebate of 100 dollars, I did not send my old one back as it was working an now I have a spare.
I also had the ox sensor go bad and made the truck have no power and then I would restart it and it would be fine. the sensor was 45 dollars and might be cheaper to try first, mine lasted about 90k miles. good luck and thanks for you work overseas.

Thanks Carmen!
I'm pretty sure the O2 sensor is good. It was recently replaced, and isn't giving any error codes.
But the info on the Jegs computer sounds good.
Thanks again.
Ben
P.S. You're quite welcome for the job we've been doing "over here". It's been quite an experience, but that's probably a topic for a forum at another website. Suffice it to say that I'll be back in the U.S. of A. in a few days!
