I have a 92 Dodge dakota want to purchase a electric fan I would like to know which brand cfm size etc that would work best for my application. I don't tow anything with it. modifications include - JBA headers, K&N open air filter, jacobs electronics ultra team kit, march underdrive pulleys, Bassani exhaust. thanks for any suggestions. The engine is a 5.2 liter. Also seen a electric fan on ebay for sell that was for a dodge dakota Rt I was wondering if the the fan on them is just a auxilary fan or is it the main fan for cooling. thanks

GenIII trucks have an auxillary fan that is tied to the AC. Still uses the regular clutch fan. Best bet for an electric fan is a Dodge Viper fan or one out of the Lincoln MarkVIII. You will need to wire it up yourself and purchase relays, or you can go to Sam at socaldakota.com. Last I heard he was working on a GenII kit.

I recently took off the massive clutch fan that was bogging down my engine. I bought a black magic 16" s-blade fan on ebay rated at 2750 cfm. It didn't even keep up in the drive through at taco bell when it was 50 degrees outside. I bought another 12" s-blade fan on ebay rated to 1250 cfm. I moved the original 16 all the way up to the top left corner of the radiator, and put the 12" in the lower right side of the radiator, but on the backside and reversed it so that it was a pusher. So now I have two fans funning for a total of 4000 cfm, and it does just fine.

Oh, I have a '97 318 4x4.
