I own a 98 5.2L automatic, recently it has been shifting at a higher RPM then it used to. Even with little pedal movement, it still seems to take until 3k RPM until it upshifts. Smooth shifting though. Also it seems to get better as the tranny warms up. I have been told that it could be a bent valve body, or some thing causing high pressure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would try playing with the tvs cable on the throttle body first, it makes sense to me that this cable with age can get old and stretch. This costs nothing, as valve body repairs can be costly. There are two cables attached to the tb, one for the gas pedal and the other goes to the trans. Locate the one that goes to trans and remove the white clip gently being careful not to break-its kinda fragile. All this clip does is keep the cable in place. Pull your cable 1/8"-1/4" toward the front of the truck. This will cause the truck to shift earlier (pushing it in toward the firewall would cause an opposite effect-shifting later). Just make sure you mark on the cable before you start so you can have a default setting incase your unhappy with the performance. If that doesnt work then it may be time to open up the trans.
