I think that sounds like a very good idea. I was pissed to hear that K&N doesn't even have an FIPK for the 4.7 yet and its been out since the 2000 model year.....
We need some nice aftermarket upgrades available....everyone concentrates on the 5.9s, but the 4.7 is a nice, somewhat efficient, peppy motor...and it could really respond nicely to some aftermarket parts.

HO Cams + HO Heads + HO Intake + Headers + a few small "tweaks" = 58RWHP. Local dealer out here did it on several 4.7L's and they dyno tested them just to see. It works!!
Hmmm...240HP at the crank + (approximately) 70HP at the crank from the HO conversion = 310HP out of the 4.7L. (Hehehehee...5.9's better watch out now.) ;)

The heads would be a little costly. I will have to price a intake manifold. Think I would rather port the stockers.

Something isn't adding up to me right now. 240 hp at the rear wheels? A 58 rwhp gain? That would mean that they only started with 182 rwhp. Don't manual trans 4.7s dyno at 200-205 rwhp when stock? Or did they start with an automatic? Did they do before and after dyno pulls? or just arbitrarily figure a driveline loss based on the original 235 hp? If they truly had a 58 rwhp gain, then starting with a 5-speed would put the rwhp at 263!
58 rwhp increase from the same parts that DC said only made 35 flywheel hp originally. That leaves 23 hp from the headers and "tweaks".
If they are dyno testing a manual trans truck - then 240 rwhp will be a gain of about 35-40 hp at the rear wheels. (that's if they didn't do before and after dyno pulls on the same truck)
Now the big question is how much does it all cost?
Or of course the other questions - how much did each component help?
Or the BIG question - does it really make 58 rwhp difference?

I think he started with 240 at the crank. That's what he said (which is about 204 rwhp like you were saying)....... Add 58 hp to that and then the missing 15% and you get 301 at the crank.
Really, I jsut wish I could get Bernd to come out from under the hood of that honkey-white TT RT and post a reply....... ;)

I thought the HO 4.7 had 270 hp at the crank
and non HO 4.7 was 240 hp at the crank,so
that would mean 30 hp from the HO
cams,heads and intake,now from the headers
and the tweaks??? another 40 hp. I really cant
see those heads being that different,the
cams are not much different,intake is different
from what I see also doesnt the HO 4.7 have a
higher compression? I gota think the biggest
diff between the 2 is a more aggerssive
pcm,anyone know if the 4.7 HO is a premium
fuel only motor?

No the 4.7 is not a premium fuel only motor I have had my 01 quadcab 2wd since Feb06 and I have tried different fuels and additives. It makes a slight difference in fuel econ. and I got a little bit of gas clatter whe I ran low octane gas with no additives. But by far this is fav. truck EVER! I am running completely stock I have about 90k and when I purchased it in AR it was one owner and in EXCELLENT condition.

You misunderstand the previous poster in this old post. He posted regular 4.7 specs side by side with the 4.7 HO specs. While your motor is designed for regular gas, the 4.7 HO is disigned for premium; and has knock sensors that the regular 4.7 does not have. If you don't run premium in the HO, if the sensors sense some knock the timing will be retarded - resulting in less than the rated power. Taht much of this post is right. Notice though, that Bernd didn't back up his info when someone asked the name of the dealership he was making claims about...
